Option to turn off EGC entirely
Why does DBD not have an option to turn off EGC entirely?
Surely by now people have realized that EGC has almost no meaning besides being toxic to each other.
I can personally count the number of times I had a nice EGC within the last 6 months, on one hand.
"You can hide EGC by clicking the little icon in the corner," okay. Great. Doesn't really help that it keeps reappearing for me when I restart the game.
EGC is a minefield of toxicity. Doesn't matter what role you play.
Play survivor and killers will insult you for good looping skills.
Play a high-tier killer, and survivors will insult you for playing one.
Tunnel on any killer, and people will insult you for using a valid strategy.
Play a low-tier killer, and people will insult you simply for playing one.
There really is no point. Just let us turn it off if we want to.
Apart from simply hiding it, a lot of people would prefer multiple steps to manually disable/re-enable the chat instead of having to click one button. More steps to unhide the chat after hiding → players are less likely to click through the settings since it's more of a hassle. I know I personally wouldn't go through that hassle.
It's also not easy to not let stuff get to you. Toxicity can go far for some players, so having a permanent option to completely hide it is definitely something worth considering.
I've seen a lot of people be against it, and my question for that is.. why? If someone has their chat disabled, how does it affect you? It would be a nice QoL change that is desperately needed IMO. Considering other games also have the option to permanently disable chat.

i have to say, im confused why the inconvenience of taking a half second to click a box one time in a gaming session brings such distraught as to post about that being too much.
Sure, a full setting would be nice but….this is a strange thing to get outraged over being honest. just click the arrow
This is exactly one of the things most players say, and I don't understand why.
Yes, clicking the arrow is a quick fix, but curiosity will always get the better of people. "User issue, just don't click it" - easier said than done for some players.
It is genuinely just a QoL feature that should be added because some players would benefit from it.

i guess to put it bluntly, i presume you are not a child. Your curiosity and you sucumbing to it or not is the responsibility of yourself. not others.
the option is there to hide it if you dont want it, and if you can not resist exposing yourself to something you know you dont want to expose yourself to i believe you need to take responsibility and address it, not expect another company to manage your own curiosity.
I dont care if they add a setting to block it, it would be a net positive for the game. but, this is on you. and i dont say that with hostility, hopefully it doesnt come off that way
we already have an option to hide it, why do you need another option? If you are going to let your curiosity get the better of you with the current method i don’t think clicking a box would stop you from looking either.
i was so confused, becaus I thought they meant EGC as in End game Collapse… whoops.
