Do you think it is a problem that some killers rely on op builds
Do you think it is fair that killers who cannot win a chase or play well in any fashion can beat better teams with certain builds? Do you think it would be a better game if skill was more important than instant down and instant kill op builds?
SWF can compensate in some important ways, but the core of the game is solo queue. As a solo player you seldom get a competent or good team. Since player numbers are dwindling mmr is out the window. You seldom get matched with other players who are of a similar skill level. So you watch in frustration as your team dooms your chance to survive.
Some maps you could just hide and get low points and look for the hatch, but that is not fun. I want a challenge, but I do not like being completely outgunned by poor team play and op killer builds.

It's the nature of this game, and it's not a one sided story. There are very strong things that generously compensate a lack of skill on both sides
It's not fair but it is what it is
What do you feel is a build or map which guarantees the survivors are all going to escape? I would love to try that build.
Like what is the instant complete generator perk which is the mirror opposite of an instant kill perk?
I'm all for complaining about killers, but you are being really vague in what you are talking about. What are the examples of killers that you are thinking of?
I think there is a problem with some stuff being too strong in the game, but I don't think there's really much that truly carries people against higher skilled opponents.
Also player numbers are not dwindling, they are pretty stable.
None, as there are no such things for killer either, it's more about the intention of having a way easier game than usual
If I showed you thhis screenshot without context you'd probably think immediately that nurse was up for an easy win. This was berfore the CoB and PR changes too, and she got Coal Tower of all maps.
The reality is that she dced after not getting a single hook after 3 gens popped
It's all about the intentions, but it really depends on who you go against (a nurse trying to pub stomp going against my swf, where my friends have all 8k+ hours and comp experience, + me being a noob with 'only' 4k).
At the same time, I can assure you that if my friends and I brought these kinds of builds (from the next screenshot) in our matches + map offering, we would quit the game out of boredom:
Tbf I was palying spirit, but does it really matter when I was facing those builds? (4 adrenalines btw, as if they thought they would reach end game :') )
To sum up, no builds will guarantee a 4escape or 4k, but there are things that will simply make it easier for one side if facing someone of similar skill. If one is bad, maybe just wallhacks could carry them
I think the builds become an issue when the player is good, and that's a bit of a blind spot the devs have had with many add ons and loadouts for as long as the game has been around IMO.
Alc Ring won't do anything for someone who isn't good at Blight. But it will make an average Blight punch way above their weight class, and it will cause a world class Blight to win hundreds of games in a row. Many killers have add ons that have exponential power creep as player skill increases.
Nothing to object on what you said, I agree 100%. But it's the same on the survivors side. 4 good survivors with 16 meta perks, 4 medkits or toolboxes and a map offering are really difficult to beat. I mean you didn't take a side on your first sentence, but you only spoke about blight afterwards, that's why I'm speaking about survirors too. But I agree100%
The way I interpreted op's post though was killer builds giving them free wins even though they weren't even as close as good as the team they were facing. There's stil a few things (MDR/DCB spirit, blight's addons...) but overall I don't think we're anywhere as close to a free win than starstruck ranged nurse ever was for example
I'm all for exposed just being removed it takes no skill on the killers part its just basically in their because it gives the killer a very big advantage in end game which shouldn't be possible like everyone and their mom runs Hex: No One Escapes Death like i know you can see the totem but guess what i just spent 30 minutes doing gens and chases i don't want to spend another 7 minutes looking for a totem, on a perk that almost guarantees at least a 3k at the end eve if they hardly got and hook all game that why it so broken
I don't think all killers should play the same or have to play all parts of the game. Sure certain killers can be annoying cause they forgo certain aspects of gameplay, but then why have more than one killer? I do believe that some killers and builds/add-ons can carry you, but only in so far as solo survivor is concerned. Because to counter certain perk combination etc. you need to play as a team and not as an individual. If there's at least one teammate who's not on the same wavelength as you, you cannot beat certain strategies.
Imagine having a teammate (say a Mikaela) doing the hatch challenge and the killer you get is running the strongest perks currently in the game, with the strongest add-ons for his killer as well as a Mori or Putrid Oak offering. Mikaela tries to never get aggro off of you because she wants to make it to end game, therefore not using all the possible resources your team could to progress the game (health states and hook states are resources).
You are not getting out of that game alive.
A person who lacks the fundamental basics of a killer pretty much loses no matter how strong a build they run.
Same goes for survivors there are very few absolutes in DBD. It's also the number of players isn't dwindling the game is extremely health an showing a normal rate of player attrition in line with what is recorded in previous years according to steam metrics.
As for being outgunned, if your team isn't working it really doesn't matter if the killer has a build you consider OP or run trash meme perks and addons. At that point you're most likely going to lose and that's okay sometimes there simply isn't anything you can do other than just try and get as many bp as you can not worry about stuff like hatch. The game gets infinitely less grating once you just let go of having conventional fun. Which is not a stance people can always get into or should be forced to, but this has been the game for 6 years and I can't see it changing.
I think there's no problem with it.
OP addons are not plentiful, and even if the player has a lot of them from playing a lot, the odds of us being matched together regularly are quite low.
Do I enjoy going against these builds ? No. Are they probably really fun to play ? Yes !
If a killer wants to boost their mmr by playing exclusively OP builds, then by all means, they're free to enjoy that.
However, it's their problem if afterwards when they're out of addons, games get difficult. Much like tunneling to get a high winrate means they'll plateau at a higher mmr than what they're normally comfortable with, if they can't win a game once they're out of Iri addons, and after their mmr was balanced around their OP builds, I don't want to hear about how SWF is OP or how survivor perks should be nerfed.
It was their choice getting out of their comfort zone.
Oh definitely. Power creep and stacking is an issue on both sides. I just went with the first example I thought of.
I believe OP is pointing is talking about instant down aka pinky finger clown and tombstone myer's. Killer that get carried by add-on's. Blight doesn't carried by Alchemist ring, Alchemist ring just adds little more power to blight. Blight's is solid with no add-on's.
I think its more problem with perception. Tombstone myer's should potencially be be base-kit because it makes Myer's a lot more challenging to defeat as the killer at base-kit has very little to offer that is unique. Same is true with Pinky finger clown. Survivor are too allergic to challenge that putting these add-on's base-kit to killer power would be too strong as perception of instant down and instant-kill is too strong for casual survivor audience. Too hardcore. As a result, I do expect pinky finger to get more nerfs such as 1 bottle permanently with 0 buff compensation to the killer. It is not question if, it is question of when.
Your Spirit build is very solid, also she is top tier. Don’t think you went against the odds.
Yes, "I'm afraid" of trying out new builds unless it is related to challenges. Lightborn, Bamboozle, Corrupt intervention are all mandatory. Oh, and Nowhere To Hide, too. If I see no flashlight (or just one) I'll replace Lightborn otherwise the rest are a must.
