Jack Torrance - '97 mini-series of The Shining
How would you guys feel about the maps having destructible environments? The idea that I have for a future killer is Jack Torrance from the Shining, of course, as you could tell from my subject. If you've seen the 1997 mini-series that came on TV, maybe they could use the Jack from that version of the Shining since he has a grotesque face during Danny's "Tony dreams." He would be known as The Caretaker, and his weapon would be a croquet mallet. His wife, Wendy, would be the Survivor.
For his power, called All Work and No Play, I think it'd be neat if he had to charge up a meter similar to Michael's Evil Within (he wouldn't be a stealth killer, though). Once Jack's meter is full, he'd be able to destroy parts of the map like tire stacks, small walls, scrap heaps, etc. for a very limited time, maybe 10-15 seconds, to maximize his mobility and cut off Survivors' paths to pallet/windows/etc. It'd take maybe 3-4 hits to destroy a part of the environment. Survivors could then patch up the hole in whatever Jack made. However, Jack could then kick in the hole in one hit with very little cooldown. During his rage, Survivors would also be exposed.
His add-ons could increase how long his power is active, but increase the amount of stalk required to activate it; decrease the number of hits it takes to destroy a part of the environment once his power is active; and maybe increase the time it takes for Survivors to patch up a part of the environment that Jack has destroyed.
So yeah, what do you guys think? Would destructible environments add a new, exciting play style, or would it be impossible to implement? Also, Stephen King had a direct hand in the production of the mini-series and not Kubrick's interpretation of the book, so maybe it'd be somewhat easier to obtain the license for this version of Jack?
