"The Nurse" Rework Feedback

Hello there random dev/player/whatever,

i want to share my thoughts about the nurse rework on the PTB, coming from an experienced nurse main.

First of all, her base power rework was completely unnecessary and way over the top. With the cooldown on her blinks, the new base nurse is not able to perform against good survivors, because the additional 3.5 seconds after her fatigue are a huge time window to get away from her. She got a new counter. Run in a straight line. She will waste a huge amount of time to catch you. Her other counter, stealth, got way stronger, because she have to search after survivors with her blink due to her slow walking speed. Every blink now wastes 3.5 seconds of your time as killer, if you search for a hiding survivor. What's really hurting her too, is the cooldown reset after every blink. When you nearly got two blinks and the cooldown gets resetted, you go from 1.9 blinks straight to zero. That's another limitation. The old base nurse got weaknesses, balanced by her big mobility and her high skillcap. The mobility AND the skillcap got nerfed here. It feels like a slap in the face for all the players that learned and perfected their nurse gameplay in the last years. Revert the changes to her base power and rework the cooldown addons. Please.

Now about her addons, i tested all of them and sorted them in four categories, good, mediocre/usable, bad and bugged. Enjoy. :)

GOOD::

Campbell's Last Breath (very rare): This addon surprised me. The possibility to instantly blink with half charge after one fully charged blink gives her back some map pressure, especially paired with Kavanagh's Last Breath. Additionally to the map pressure you can surprise survivors with good double blinks, because the second blink is not predictable at all. If you learn the range of your second instablink, this addons combination is very good, especially because the instablink is not forced, the nurse player decides to charge full or not.

Fragile Wheeze (rare): A cooldown reduction brings her nearer to old base nurse powerlevel. And that's what this addon does. It's her best addon in my opinion, pairable with many mediocre addons like "Bad Man's" Last Breath to get more map pressure and chase potential, and together with Dark Cincture her very best addon combination by far. With this addon combination you basically get old base nurse back, cheers for that devs.

Dark Cincture (uncommon): The same as Fragile Wheeze. Cooldown reduction is very nice.

MEDIOCRE/USABLE::

Kavanagh's Last Breath (very rare): A higher range at cost of the charge speed. This addon is good for map pressure, epecially paired with Heavy Panting for even more range. It still got the cooldown problem, so it's not good, but pretty okay.

"Bad Man's" Last Breath (very rare): This addon would be very good, if there wouldn't be the time. The build-in 60 seconds limitation hurts this addon massively, but it's okay to use, not great, just okay.

Heavy Panting (rare): This addon got a slightly weaker effect than Kavanagh's Last Breath, but that makes it not worse. Especially paired with Fragile Wheeze this addon gives map pressure, chase potential and not that bad short blink limitations. Some players i talked to said it's her best addon combination, but i prefer the cooldown reduction combo.

Anxious Gasp (rare): I thought a while about this addon. It's not good, but sometimes got a use against stealth players. Sometimes. Your blink have to go nearly through the survivor to get any effect. It's an okay addon, because it also rewards you with sum BP without downsides (i look at you Dull Bracelet).

Bad Man Keepsake (uncommon): Nurse's Calling for 60 seconds. Again, without the limitation a good addon. It's nice to use, if you want to try out new perks, but you don't wanna loose the effects of any of your main perks. A cool addon.

Metal Spoon (common): Stridor for the poors. It's okay like Bad Man Keepsake, but not good. The 60 seconds guys the 60 seconds. Let the effect last till the survivor is fully healed. Why not?

Plaid Flannel (common): This addon is very good to learn the nurse, if anyone bothers after those massive nerfs. You get a feeling for the range of your blinks and not just blink around completely disorientated. For more experienced players like me, it's disturbing, because it sometimes messes up your muscle memory and blocks LoS.

Wooden Horse (common): Again, if you want to learn this killer, a very nice addon. The long fatigue of your missed blink attacks can be very frustrating, especially if you miss often. It get's lesser and lesser use, the more you hit your blinks, so it's not that useful for experienced players.

BAD::

Torn Bookmark (ultra rare): Three blinks. Nice. Wait. I cannot blink through walls anymore? And the line of sight is sometimes messed up because of weird hitboxes? All yes. This addon is mediocre at best on maps like Mother's Dwelling or Rotten Fields, but there you got other limitations like Corn or the size of the map. On Lery's or The Game you can basically instant dc. No point even trying, it's entity displeased anyway. But it's not enough that this addon is basically unuseable on most maps, you got the Plaid Flannel effect on top. So you got three buggy blinks with a free LoS blocker and you can't go through walls anymore. Thanks for this incredibly bad UR.

Matchbox (ultra rare): Ever played one blink nurse? Because that's what this addon does. It's a huge limitation, but wait, you get 105% movement speed? Insane...not. One blink and still slow as T1 Myers? Thank's but no. One blink and 110% or 115% and it's maybe worth using for fun sometimes. But like this it's just an disappointment.

Jenner's Last Breath (very rare): Okay, no limitations anymore. You can revert a blink with one button. I was hyped for this addon first, but after i tried it i was a bit disappointed. Not because it's not working or it's bad, it just got no use. After survivors find out you got that addon, they just wait until they hear your fatigue or your second blink before they go for saves. And in chases, when the survivor tries to juke, most times a second blink is more precise anyway. I really want this addon to be mediocre but it's just not. You'll never use the effect of this addon and say "Wow, that was a good play!", more like "Why did i used this?".

Ataxic Respiration (rare): Fatigue reduction. Why? Just why? She got a cooldown now. You have to wait anyway. After using this addon i noticed no advantage, no use, just nothing. In combination with Fragile Wheeze you can blink again one time after 2.25 seconds. But one blink is not good. It's just not good. Not mediocre, not useful, just bad.

Pocket Watch (uncommon): For what do i need a longer chain blink window? To get a better use out of Jenner's Last Breath? Oh wait. Another addon without any use for the nurse.

Catatonic Boy's Treasure (uncommon): Fatigue reduction. Again. In combination with Fragile Wheeze you can blink again one time after 2.1 seconds. That's the fastest recovery of one blink that's possible. But again, one blink is not good, especially if you hit the survivor and gave him a sprintburst anyway.

Dull Bracelet (uncommon): This addon would be still bad, even if it would decrease the maximum blink charge time too. But like this it's just a limitation and a minimal amount of additional BP. Much wow.

White Nit Comb (common): Another limitation for BP? I'm impressed.

BUGGED::

Spasmodic Breath (rare): This addon turns the nurse into The Legion with less pressure. It's clearly one of the worst addons of nurse, but it's bugged too (lol). After getting out of the increased speed the first time, everytime you get back to normal speed and blinks, your whole screen is shaking and lagging till you hit a survivor with a blink again. Just fix this, no, more like rework the whole addon. It's bad. Really bad.

After all i am disappointed. My suggestion would be: Bring all addons on mediocre level and revert the changes to her base. The cooldown tuned her down to A-Tier. With the best addons she is as good as the old base nurse and the old base nurse got good counterplay and was very skillful to play. The new base nurse is just a joke and can't go to live like that. And do something about her URs. Let the nurse scream "YEET!" everytime she blinks with one UR. Would be more fun than the current ones.

  • Actually I'm just fine with the change. Makes the Nurse have an ACTUAL counter like all other killers.

    I understand she's a powerful killer, but it does not mean she should be impossible to win against. Which made her... Dare I say it, "op". It made facing against her a nightmare in a bad way. You can't escape a god nurse, this change was there to relieve a bit of pressure from survivors, to at least give them a chance to escape more easily than before.

    The change was definitely needed but the thought never occured. If a killer gets 4k's every match in high ranks, then the killer is overpowered. I'm happy that they changed her. Besides, her change isn't crippling, all it does is add a 6 second cooldown to blinks. Forces her to be accurate and spare usage of blinks, which adds a new strategy to her.

    At least she doesn't have a tier to herself lol.

    The addon change was very needed, like i said. The cooldown not. So i put around 300 hours only in base nurse and i'm not winning every game on high ranks with her. About 80% is a pip and about 60% is a 4k i guess. Now i have to use two addons to get the same results.
