I feel like devs are running out of ideas
I don't know where exactly to post this, I think general discussion fits more than PTB feedback.
So, we all experienced that basically every chapter comes with 1 awesome perk, 1 alright perk (good by itself, but get outclassed by better perks already existing) and 1 perk beeing absolutely useless (for killer and for survivors).
However, as more chapters get released, more and more perks are shifting from awesome to alright and from alright to useless for both sides.
U don't notice that immediately but when you look at the perks who got released in order, you will see the pattern. Especially now with Jane and with Ghostface.
I think the devs are doing bad for themselves pushing content faster than they actually think. The devs have the potential to give us good perks and content. We all know that, we all see that sometimes. But with the schedule they are running, they can't use their creativity fully. It's limiting them.
My advice: reduce the content. Seriously, just bring up only 3 chapters perk year. Or reduce them perks perk chapter. It doesn't have to be 3 perks per character. 2 are fine. Even 1 is fine, as long as they are very good. U could still add the "remaining" perks afterwards. Just take your time for good content.
I know, it's a "ritual" to bring 4 chapters per year and 3 perks per character. HOWEVER, for the health of the game, for the grind etc u really should change that.
Don't rush devs and take this as your ultimate business strategy: QUALITY > QUANTITY
Comments
The 3 month dlc release time frame has certainly led to quantity over quality.
They have lost a bit of the spark which led to the creation of killers that were fun, simple and deadly in the right hands.
The new idea seems to be about giving killers more than one power and making things more interactive, this is evident with Ghostface, Freddy, the plague and legion as each of their powers need survivors to so something after being hit or to remove it.
The thing that worries me most about making them like above is that it's adding a new objective via a killer so adding an overall new objective seems less likely as it gets a lot harder to balance.
Too many aura and second chance perks, notifications and Insta down for myself is what makes the game mundane, each dlc a perk arrives which tried to fix a problem with the core mechanics but ends up being a band aid fixes.
Yeah exactly. It feels like they are slowly separating themselves from the original DbD in terms of killer design to fix core issues (which shouldn't be fixed via killers in the first place).
Really sad.
