Perk Classification project

Here is an Excel spreadsheet that classifies all the killer and survivor perks in Dead By Daylight.

My goal was to figure out the most basic "classes" that perks could fall into and then assign a perk to that classification. I wanted it simple, so each side has 4 classifications of perks

Survivor classifications:

  1. Buff - Perks that outright buff survivor stats. Pretty straight forward. EXAMPLE: Leader.
  2. Run - Perks that help in a chase. Aso includes anti-hook perks, as they make killer waste time like they would in a chase. EXAMPLE: Lithe.
  3. Hide - Perks that help with stealth or immersion. EXAMPLE: Distortion.
  4. Info - Perks that provide survivors with information. EXAMPLE: Kindred.

Killer classifications:

  1. Debuff - Perks that apply a debuff to survivor actions. EXAMPLE: Ruin.
  2. Chase - Perks that help killers in a chase. EXAMPLE: Enduring.
  3. Track - Perks that help a killer find and track survivors. EXAMPLE: BBQ & Chilli.
  4. Disrupt - Perks that cause survivors to make mistakes. EXAMPLE: Overcharge.

Now I want to point out that some perks can fit into multiple classifications. To avoid multi-classification of perks I focused on what the perk does best. For example, Iron Maiden could be either a Tracking perk or a Chase perk, as it both reveals your location and applies Exposed, which can help you end a chase faster. However, considering that it's primary use does not include the Exposed status it makes more sense to classify it as a Tracking perk. There are a lot of these throughout the list, so just keep this in mind.

  • You forgot Category 5: Piece of Shits

This includes Left Behind and Monstrous Shrine.

    This isn't a tier list. It's a classification list.

Well if you look at the first page I have a counter for each classification. You will see that survivors have a TON on Buff perks, like disproportionate amount compared to any other classification. Even killers have a rather even distribution. This says to me that the devs need to shift focus away from these types of perks, and come up with more Hiding perks since they are disproportionately low.

It can also be useful because in the case of say Iron Maiden, it's a Tracking perk right now. BUT it could also be a Chase perk if the Exposed effect was better. So devs could use it as a way to tweak certain perks to fit the style they want. If the devs wanted Iron Maiden to be a chase perk then they need to boost it in a chase, ie. increase the Exposed timer.

    Also for fun.
