Idea to fight the DC epidemic
So, as we all know the current DC rates are extremely high, almost every game someone DCs as soon as something doesnt go the way they would like it to go.
There are also many ideas out here how to fight that, so i'd like to add my own idea to the list and maybe the devs will find something that work under those suggestions, who knows?
so, my idea is a simple one:
a survivor who DCs will lose all points they would have made this round, their item, their offering and 2 (or more) pips. They will also not be able to queue up for a new game, as long as the previous game is still ongoing.
excessive DC rates will lead to a ban, like they do now (maybe lower the number a little bit?).
i think that would be enough, as many players right now use DCs to be able to dodge something they dont like and then move on to the next game / save their item. by taking away the opportunity to queue up for a new game, they would have to wait until the round is over, while still getting all the DC penalities. this would lead to some very boring minutes in the menu, which might be enough to encourage them to stop DCing once they get downed / hooked / whatever their reason is.
of course this comes with a problem aswell: what about the people who got kicked out of the loading screen / DCed, because their connection died / DCed because they got irl problems?
first off, the irl problems should take long enough, so you dont need to immediately queue up again. otherwise you could have just gone into a locker and gone afk for a minute. the people whose connection died, i am sorry, but that shouldnt happen too often and waiting 5 - 10 minutes in the lobby shouldnt be a big problem if that happens like once or twice a month. also, your connection should not be back up ASAP, so i doubt you would have to wait. i had to include this, as many survivors use this methode to DC without losing their stuff, so i am sorry for the ones that really had a disconnect due to internet issues, but thats a sacrifice we need to make to improve the overall game experience.
now, the last one is probaply the hardest one, but since this bug seemed to be mostly fixed during the PTB (i have not experienced a single 3 man game during all my games in this PTB) i think its not a big problem anymore.
so what do you think?
would that be enough to prevent salty survivors from DCing and therefore screwing the entire team? obviously, this would not fight a Dcing killer, but i honestly dont see those very often, so i focussed on the survivor side more here.
please leave your own ideas / impressions in the comments, keep this a respectful debate and i will see you in the fog!
