The Legion nerf (my thoughts and suggestions)
Hello there, good people of the fog!
as we have all seen the PTB Legion nerfs, i wont talk about them in detail here and instead give you my opinions and some suggestions right away! :D
so, i have played a couple of Legion games now, but i am nowhere a great Legion player (as i have refused to play them, since they were nothing more but bad game design in my eyes. so this was the first time i touched Legion after the Legion PTB back when they got released), so my opinions on this might differ from experienced Legion players in one way or another.
overall i really like the new changes. yes, they are nerfs, BUT i think they were necessary to get rid of those (very) unfun gamemechanics and allow the devs to buff Legion now without completely breaking the game. However, i believe there are some nerfs that were unnecessary:
- losing your entire frenzy uppon a missed attack - i think that one was just unnecessary and, since the frenzy attacks no longer inflice damage uppon the mend bar, i think that one can be removed.
- the mending bar not going down while mending and inside the killers terrorradius - this is broken. i understand that you tried to fix the whole "turning around with bloodhound and tracking the blood until the timer runs out" aspect, but that was the wrong way to go. thanks to this, survivors now completely ignore the mending action and simply repair the gens, when within a 32m radius to the killer. that combined with the fact that mending is done very fast renders the whole thing pretty useless. (i will pick this back up in the reworks)
- the slower vault animation for legion - i really dont understand that one. i will still catch up to the survivor and i will also inflict the deep wound effect on them, it only takes me longer to do so. the outcome is the same, but the time to achieve it is increased. imo just unnecessary.
- Legion is not allowed to open lockers anymore, while in his frenzy. WHY? that makes it super unfun to get looped at certain locations (killershack) and is just dumb imo. (Edit #1)
- Killers not being able to see the progression of Deep Wound. i really dont think that was necessary at all. imo killers should have MORE information than survivors do, but apparently the devs do not want that to be the case. stuff like the deep wound timer should eigther be shown to both sides, or (in case of RBTs) to the killer only. i do not understand why survivors are allowed to see this information, but killers are not. (Edit #2)
now, i mentioned rework ideas, didnt i? these are my ideas that could be implemented to the legion. please note, that those are just my personal ideas. not all of these have to be added, some might actually be bad, who knows? but without further ado, here are my suggestions:
- i want to start with the mending rework i mentioned earlier. we dont necessarily need to return to the old system, as that would allow for the turning around thing to return. but what about this instead: the mending bar will not go down when inside Legions terrorradius, unless you are performing an action. doing so will result in your wounds to open and the timer will start to ticking down. you will not be able to stop the timer anymore, after it has started. mending will stop the timer once it hits 1% like before (pre nerf). - so basically survivors inside your terrorradius will still be able to run away from you (so you cant use the turning around strat), but once they start repairing mending or anything else but being chased / hiding, they need to stop and mend. actions that wont start the timer: vaulting, dropping pallets / items, using an item (obviously medkits would still activate it, as you'd start a healing action. same for toolboxes).
- a reduction of the pre frenzy stun. this one could be strong, but i believe the stun is too much. since the new frenzy is only able to secure you a fast first hit, you will have to run up to them and end it manually, to chase them down with M1. by reducing the stun we would be allowed to run up to them and start the chase much faster, allowing us to catch a survivor who ran into the open field / ran out of pallets and down them, giving the Legion the ability to end chases quicker and add some pressure on them.
- the legion no longer loses their power after a succesfull hit outside their frenzy. since their power does not benefit them in a chase after the first hit has been achieved, i really dont see the need for this.
- the cooldown for the frenzy should be reduced or we should be allowed to use it after a certain percentage of the meter has been filled (50% or something like that). currently, without add ons that decrease the time required to fill it up, its just annoying to wait for it, only to get that first hit through all those loops they have. also, IF you get a succesfull hit outside the frenzy its back on cooldown, so if you want to switch targets / block a window with bamboozle quickly, good luck with that.
alright, thats it for now!
did i forget something? (probaply, since im a little tired right now xD) did i add something you disagree with? (i am kinda inexperienced with legion, so forgive me if one of my suggestions is too strong / weak) please tell me in the comments in a polite way! thank you very much for reading :D
i see you in the fog!

I have an issue with pallets depleting power, slower vault animation, longer stun, and not being able to use your ability until it's full (could be half way, that would have been fine). I can rationalize the locker change (gives survivors more of a reason to go into a locker right in front of Legion, who came with Iron Maiden). I also don't think the mending change is too bad. They were throwing around the idea of making it count as a healing action for Nurses, too, which would be really nice. Their screen gets really messed up and they're ultimately only screwing themselves if they don't find their DW. You're also faster than before, so it isn't a joke to run away from you.
@fluffybunny
i personally dont have a problem with a pallet stun depleting the power, as you shouldnt go for the M1 first hit anyways and gotta bait out the drop to vault and hit them. it also provides them with the ability to end your frenzy and dont have their entire team getting put into the deep wound effect.
the next points we both agree on, until we come to the locker change. looking at it from your perspective certainly makes more sense, even though i think its just coincedence that legion got that perk, yet it does make sense.
however, where i really have to disagree on is the mending change. yes, it would be nice to spot mending survivors within a 28m range with Nurses Calling, but my main problem is, that the survivors will simply not mend at all while in a 32m radius to you and instead focus on rushing the gens. this not only makes the whole deep wound concept less effective and also denies you the ability to go for another chainattack, as anyone you would spot with your killerinstinct is already in the deep wound effect, therefore they will not be displayed while rushing the gens. i do think my suggestion for that would fit in that nicely.
@Mister_xD
You make a good point. I hadn't thought of that.
My initial reaction was "why? .-.", but I thought about it a bit and suppose it would make his perk stronger on him inadvertently. Was it nerfed for that reason? Probably not. I've seen so many complain about being found in a locker (which I had no issue with. It's like, just adapt), so it was probably due to the complaints.
Well, I don't think they can solo out someone working on gens, for instance. The plague, for instance, affects running, too. I didn't have a game where a survivor didn't mend, though I was also chaining hits and running away from the ones I was hitting first and second. If I didn't see anyone, I went for the chase. Still, DW really messes up your screen and could put survivors in a bad spot where they may not be able to see you if you come at them from an angle, for instance.
