Opinions and Future of the Obsession Mechanic?

What is your opinion of the Obsession mechanic? Do you love? Do you hate it?

Is the mechanic in a good position as is, or should there be more?

What is the ideal Killer Obsession perk? The ideal Survivor Obsession perk?

What do you think the future of the Obsession mechanic should be? What would you do with it?

  • In my opinion the mere state of being an obsession should not be desireable regardless of perks used on BOTH sides.

Before it's rework, the obsession state was used to determine who's using DS. Think about it, survivors WANTED to be the obsession.

As mentioned before, merely being declared obsession should not be desireable for survivors.

Ive sern similiar discussions theorizing about

-giving obsession a %-penalty on all interactions,

    - making obsesssion mori-able after first unhook /

-Rancor / DL as default mechanism

    Etc.

  • almost all the perks that are obsession based aren’t that obsessive to me. Yea dying light and remember me are kinda obsessive. I think obsession perks should be you want to have one and only target like make a perk where you get 100% more bloodpoints in category for killing the obsession and vice versa for survivor. Idk how it could be fixed or rework but obsession perks need to be obsessive

  • The game has a problem with tunneling amd camping as is. Obsession encourages deliberaye screwing over of one person. I would rather it evovle to something else.

  • The feature overall seems redundant unless based around a perk meant to tunnel the obsession. Like for example being the obsession because you have a survivor perk isn't a downside at all unless you consider the killer knowing you have an obsession perk bad.

Like good examples of being the obsession being a bad outcome for the survivor is Dying Light and Remember Me. Although most other perks are kind of the opposite where the obsession is the last priority. Those perks also tend to be the better designed ones too.

I couldn't care either way really but being the obsession only seems to indicate that obsession perks are present in the game rather than indicating why this specific person is the obsession. As survivor it may help you figure out what perks the killer has if they're tunneling the obsession or ignoring them. That's all it does really though.

I have mixed feelings overall about the mechanic really. I feel like it's useless but at the same time I wouldn't change it to penalize survivors without a perk because that sounds unfun for the obsession.

  • I don't really mind any Obsession Perk besides Decisive Strike.

And i also don't mind how it works, i just dislike being stunned in general.

But every now and then, there's a match that doesn't play the "You got an Obsession!" sound in the beginning, and i can't help but go EEYYYY!
