Bringing Back Steve’s Original Scream Through the Ahoy Outfit
The change to Steve Harrington’s scream in Dead by Daylight has not been well received by a significant part of the community. This is not just a minor detail, but an element that was part of the character’s identity. The original scream was recognizable, had personality, and contributed to the overall experience of playing him, while the new one feels more generic and less distinctive. As a result, many players feel that Steve has lost part of his essence, especially those who used him frequently. instead of keeping a change that has created division, a more balanced solution would be to use cosmetics to provide options. Specifically, the “Ahoy” outfit could include Steve’s original scream. This would allow players who prefer the classic version to continue enjoying it without affecting those who prefer the new one. It would also create a clear expectation from the lobby, since if a killer sees Steve wearing that outfit, they will know what to expect and can choose to stay or leave without penalties. Additionally, it would give the Ahoy skin extra value, not only visually but also audibly, reinforcing the character’s identity.This kind of solution does not remove the current change, but it also does not ignore the players who were satisfied with the original version. It simply introduces an option that respects both preferences.
