the ptb changes related to nerfing killer gameplay should've went live
it would reduce the gap between casuals and competitive guys which would make the game easier to balance.
to be honest, at high mmr, tunneling off hook is literally a suicide strat unless your killer is already good at tunneling. you either need to proxy camp, slug or both which doesnt work on the weaker killers because that's actually why they're weak. this makes killers like blight ghoul nurse more appealing to main and the weaker killer less.
if they pushed the changes through which would be absolutely massive nerfs to killers, i think that it would've balanced the game more. this sounds paradoxical but hear me out and see what you think. the stronger killers would eat some really gigantic nerfs, and the weaker killers already suck at these strats so it wouldnt really matter at high mmr. the key point here is high mmr.
the bad uncoordinated survivors would have much simpler games. basically what im saying is high mmr is already disgustingly unbalanced anyway and these nerfs would make the game more fun for the casual survivors. sure the game at high mmr may feel balanced if you're playing only the top tier killers or you're extremely good at your one trick but the fact that you simply cant play much of the killer roster is a sign of huge problem. of course they'd have to buff killers a lot after but it would be healthier i think long-term.
thoughts? probably i am wrong, i dont know exactly how it would play out. just how i feel about the game right now.

BHVR isn't going to better balance the game by throwing out the ptb anti-tunnel/slugging system. What would happen is BHVR sees that the only killers who can compete are Nurse/Blight/Ghoul/Krasue level and we start seeing more killers that strong. When really the problem with DBD is the power level of the strongest stuff is too high and needs to be brought down. DBD matches should be less about who wins in the first 5 minutes and be more of a slow build up like a horror movie.
exactly.
we dont want blight by daylight.
I don't tunnel unless it's appropriate, but if that patch went live I would have just switched to the better killers and kept on playing how I wanted to. You think Nurse mains would have even noticed the changes? Ghouls can gladly eat those tunneling penalties and be just fine.
That patch was a giant middle finger to almost every killer outside the top 5. Did you just want to play against 5 killers for the rest of the game's lifespan?
I get that people are desperate for action to prevent tunneling, but that patch… was not the answer. Parts of it were good, like the unique hook bonuses for killers and the extended unhook protection for survivors. But the generator kick blocker and increase to survivor repair speeds were a convoluted, abusable mess.
Agree whole heartedly, unfortunately too many complained matches were taking too long so it's been pretty much anything that will prolong a match must go… Hopefully they bring back the horror movie aspect of this game though.
