Anti-Tunnel/Snowball Rework (something that should’ve been introduced long ago)

Hey everyone,

I’m a survivor main, and I think the current Anti-Tunnel implementation misses the mark. It removes core killer tools and creates swingy outcomes instead of addressing the snowball of early deaths. I’ve had a different idea in mind for years that I believe is fair to both sides:

TL;DR: If a teammate is dead/DC’d (S<4), survivors get a small repair speed boost only early, which shrinks every gen and returns to normal by the last gen. Killers keep all gen defense (kicks, regression, blocking). It helps when you’re behind without creating endgame blowouts.

What's ugly with the current approach:

  • Killing a previously hooked survivor turning off all gen defense is extreme and erases counterplay.
  • Early deaths can happen without tunneling yet the killer still loses their tools.
  • Sudden power shifts feel arbitrary - both sides deserve a clear, predictable system.

The math:

Let:

  • G = generators remaining (5 → 1)
  • S = survivors alive (1 → 4)

Initial bonus at 5 gens (only if S<4):

  • S = 3 → +15%
  • S = 2 → +25%
  • S = 4 → 0% (no change)

Decay to zero by the last gen (linear): Bonus(G,S) = B0(S) * (G - 1) / 4

  • At G=5, bonus = B0(S)
  • At G=1, bonus = 0% (fully back to normal)

Effective speed multiplier: F = 1+ B(G,S)
Gen repair time: 90 / F * coop_rate

*co-op rates with current penalties: Solo = 1.00, 2-man = 1.70, 3-man = 2.10, 4-man = 2.20

Why this is fair:

  • No penalties for the killer for not following survivor rule book.
  • It triggers only after a death/DC and naturally fades as progress is made.
  • Self-balancing. As gens pop (G decreases), the help shrinks—so the endgame plays normal.
  • Keeps killer counterplay intact - No locks on kicks/blocking/regression. The killer can still stabilize with smart patrol, pressure injured survivors, and leverage slowdown perks.
  • Prevents killer snowball without creating a survivor snowball. The dangerous survivor snowball is fast mid/late gens after the killer’s already struggling. Here, the boost is front-loaded only and guaranteed to be 0% by last gen, so there’s no endgame turbo.
