unhook cancels with zero input or justification

PC. I sprained my wrist a while back and it hasn't fully recovered, so the tap rather than hold toggle was more advantageous. However, in match after match after match the game just decides to cancel unhooking after I've tapped it and started the animation, process etc. This has literally lost the game more than once when people were slugging and camping and I was the last one up.
