Reverse Bear Trap not working?

During a match I bear trapped a survivor, and for some time while the trap was active, it never killed the survivor after the allotted time. The survivor lived with the trap active for more than 2(1/2)-3 minutes, and if I'm right, the trap should kill the survivor with 150 seconds after activation. I could be wrong and overlooked something, but it didn't seem right, even the other survivors mentioned it during the end game chat.

    The timer pauses if they are in the dying State or being chased. But since you said it was active for 150 to 180 seconds it should've went off
