How does "Staring down the Unknown" actually work?

The subject line speaks for itself.


Mainly I just want some clarification on the mechanics of "staring down the unknown" to remove the Weakened status. How long does it take? Does it work like Revealing Ghostface, where you have to have the killer centered in your field of view? Any and all input would be awesome since the mechanic is not really clearly explained in the killer's power.

    I think it’s easier than Ghostface reveal and you don’t have to have the killer centered accurately like that (sometimes Ghostface reveal seems very wonky imo)

    you get a sound cue when the staring down is happening and the meter on your icon on the left is going down, giving you an idea of how much you already have and how much is still needed.
