Video game bandwidth usage is usually in the low kbps range, the data throughput is minimal and increasing your bandwidth won't change much of anything. Your ping improving in other games can have various reasons, and while different internet service providers or services can improve things, often the bottleneck is simply the physical internet infrastructure (at one's home and in one's country) and the physical distance to the game servers.

Here's a tip for something that actually helps a lot of people that live far away from the game servers: Use ExitLag (or NoPing), it's a service that improves your routing, sending your game data through optimized or prioritized streams.
