"kobe?!", I say; use it's full name - Kobayashi Maru
"The Kobayashi Maru is a training exercise in the Star Trek franchise designed to test the character of Starfleet Academy cadets in a no-win scenario"
Just like when a survivor unhooks themselves, the killer is in a no-win scenario.
"It's only 4%"
"KOBEEEE"
"dbd gods said not today!"
4% chance to unhook themselves will deduct 20 seconds from the "total hook time". This attempt can only be made on stage 1.
My gripe with this is 4 fold:
- People should not be "giving up" any time on hook period. "120 seconds of being in jail", for those who dont know that DBD is a giant game of cops vs robbers.
- If someone is the SECOND to last survivor and the LAST survivor is under chase - the SECOND to last survivor has nothing to lose on trying to unhook themselves.
- If someone is hooked, pressure is applied to the team because they are already down 25% gen repair with 1 on hook, then maybe another 25% if someone is being chased. That means someone else MUST come and get the safe unhook, another 25% off the gen repair potential. 1 hook can be 75% pressure if a chase ensues. By letting them unhook themselves, you are robbing killers of that much needed pressure. If you average unhook is say 30 seconds (from you leaving gen to getting unhook to getting back on gen), it's the equivillant of 60 seconds of gen repair time (1 unhooks, 1 is in chase). That's like a free deadlock to for survivors.
- It's a very unfun occurance to chase someone, finally get the down after what sometimes can be a really long, painful chase - to then have it taken away. This is an unfun mechanic for the killer.
FUN FACT
- Using x4 Up the Ante and x4 Vigo's Jar of Salty Lips
- Survivors can stack Luck to 48 % (4*9 % + 4*3 %), which is then added to the base chance of self-unhook attempts (4 %).
- Slide in an extra 3 attempts with slippery meat and add an extra 4% ontop. 6 chances to escape at 52%.
