Anniversary cakes/flan and leveling

I have a considerable amount of BP built up over the last six - eight months from all the log-in bonuses and promo codes that have been coming hard and fast (since MMR), and I as debating what to do vis-a-vie the anniversary event.

On the one hand, I could just play 12 games to get the masks, eat the lost points, and keep sitting on the stockpile until the revised Prestige system goes into effect. On another, I could spend all my points on bloodwebs to get a bunch of flans and THEN play in the anniversary without a loss of the bp I'd earn from the games. That made me think: how much BP does the event actually give you from offerings alone?

So, I did some rough math. To take a character from 1 to 50, you spend around 1.5 million BP (a little less if you avoid purple and pinks, and a little more if you don't). In the course of going through webs, you average out at about 50 flans, plus or minus a few.

Each flan gives you +100% BP, which means that if you get a score of 30,000 on every game, the 50 flans by themselves pay off the 1.5 million you spent to get them, with all the addons, offerings, and perks coming out effectively free. You're also getting the 1.5 million you would normally get just from the standard score, plus ANOTHER 1.5 million if you get all four BBQ stacks. When you factor in cakes/flans used by other players, you end up getting quite a lot over two weeks (assuming people keep burning them as the event goes on, which was NOT what happened last year for whatever reason).

Obviously, this isn't exactly ideal, though. You have to play 50+ games with that killer to burn through all your flans, and 30,000 points on a game means you had to do really very well (which, with MMR, becomes harder to do with every game you play). Additionally, you can't bank THESE points, which means you have to keep spending them as you build back up. And, if you wanted to triple prestige a killer, you'd have to burn through all 50 flans before moving to the next prestige level or lose them (and that's a lot of games to do in two weeks). Finally, with a bunch of perks getting reworked, a killer you might want to get to p3 right NOW so their perks open up for everyone (Cannibal for BBQ, obviously) might NOT be worth doing after the perk "rebalancing."

tl;dr -

If you have many millions of BP stockpiled, it probably is probably NOT worth burning them just to get BP from the anniversary (unless you see yourself playing hundreds of games over the next two weeks).

It's such a shame they didn't do the prestige change BEFORE the anniversary, really. Or, you know, uncap the million max from games for the duration of the anniversary.

  • Well, I disagree. 150k to 200k per match is quite worth it to me. Makes prestiging an absolute cake walk. Heh heh.

Do you find yourself playing very many games where you get 30,000 ish points with BBQ and all five players are burning flans? Because my experience has been around 2 survivors are burning one per game, and most of them are eager to get out asap, happy to settle for their 8k of "ignore the killer for the whole match"

Yes. And my estimate is an average of 28k per match if that's something anyone's curious about. I see about three flans per match including mine own. Some people are salty, consistent losers who don't want to feel like they are helping anyone else out during the event.

Also, everyone survivor worth playing tries to get out asap. The only way to stop that is to be good in chase. If you're struggling to catch survivors, it's probably something wrong with your own mechanics. You'd be surprised how many mistakes people make unknowingly; they usually say it's an issue with the game or other players. I suggest if we are feeling that way, to consider a little introspection.
