DBD IS balanced for the absolute majority of players.
For the absolute majority of DBD players, this game is pretty much entirely balanced. The only area at which things become notable are ultra-high levels of play, and tournament play. For anyone below that, this game pretty much IS entirely balanced.
Yeah, people can bring 4 second-chances + strong items + strong maps. People can bring 4 slowdowns + strong killer + strong add-ons + strong maps. So on and so forth for whatever you could imagine in this entire game. But.
By far the biggest determining factor of the result is the levels of player skill. Giving someone the best possible loadout possible means nothing if they’re not good enough to use it to its maximum. The average player is not good. That’s not meant to be an insult. That is simply what it is. That is WHY it’s average. MMR so far does not always give actually even-skill matchups, among other things.
An actually good player will dominate the majority of their games simply for this reason alone. They are better than the majority of matchups the system will give them. MMR giving uneven skill matches does not make the game itself unbalanced. For the same reason that good players can do things like 100+ game escape streaks or 100+ game 4K streaks, average players perform… average.
Not being able to overcome that means you are not as good as you may think you are. Frankly, it doesn’t matter what loadout the average matchup you will face brings. The average person will not do amazing with it regardless. The better player can still win these sorts of matches, because they play better regardless of the starting line.
