Grind reduction idea

You know, after taking part to a grind reduction thread, I was thinking what exactly would permanently reduce the grind.

For every perk tier left to unlock in the game (on each character to p3), you gain a 0.1 bp gain modifier (that affects the amount of bp actions reward). 1 million cap is removed and category caps are multiplied together with the action rewards.

If we take this change into our current game, if we say a new player joins in and they don't upgrade their characters AT ALL untill they gain the amount of bp required to uprgade everything and consider the average game to be 10 minutes long (+q times), it would take the new player around 300-350 hours to reach max everything on everyone, IF they get max bp every game.

But wait, that's an overkill, right? Well, not really. No one is gonna play for 350 hours without upgrading anything and get max bp every game.

But nevertheless, this will cause the amount of bp you gain to increase with every new addition to the game, so the grind remains kinda the same, and the closer you get to finishing the game, the less bp gain multipliers you have.

This way, new players won't take 10 years to unlock remotely anything and they would be able to get on track with older players much quicker.

The multiplier value can of course be adjusted, I just took a value I thought could work.

  • And also, just so new players don't have to spend 10 hours after every game because they gain so much bp, rework a bit how you buy items.

Basically, instead of having to hold to buy and it's permanent, just make it so you click once to select the node, and after you select everything you want (the entity will also start selecting if you pick too many things), press the buy button on the lower side of the page. If you click something you don't want/the entity picks something you wanted, just deselect nodes.

  • Yes as I mentioned in the other thread inflating BP gains is one quick and dirty way they could allieviate grind without a whole lot of work.

My solution does take some effort. They need to implement algorithms that measure the amount of grind left and some more work, but nothing impossible.

  • More BP is always good.

However I don't really like how this system gradually begins to reward people who stick with the game less than those just joining in. That feels really counter-intuitive. Could it not just be a global boost to BP for every chapter added instead that doesn't diminish over time? Ie, every new DLC would mean more BP for everyone.

It's not like BP suffers from inflation, since nodes don't change in value over time unless BHVR manually adjusts them.

Plus it doesn't really fix the absurd amount of time that one has to spend sifting through all those bloodwebs to actually level up characters, which can get tedious really fast.

For the last point, I mentioned that they would have to make some adjustments to bloodwebs so it doesn't take 5 years to use all bp.

The reason the system gives less of a bonus the more you have is because you need less bp the more you have.

The less you have, the more you have to buy, hence more bp.

  • An in game shop where you can buy whatever you need gets rid of most of the issues regarding the grind. Need a specific perk? No worries, just straight up buy it. Did you lose your flashlight last game? Buy a new one, easy.

It also keeps the grind alive for those who want to unlock every perk on their character. You just don't have to waste a ton of BP into useless items, offerings and add ons that pop up in the bloodweb.
