Dying Light Solution with Reasoning and justification

Dying Light Situation (For The Obsession)

If you played this game for a while and you play both sides, there would be a time where you was the Dying Light obsession.
1.) You was tunneled
2.) You was downed
3.) You was hooked
4.) You was unhooked
5.) REPEAT STEPS 1 & 2
6.) You was mori'd

This isn't fun for the killer since you are not getting involved in many chases. This obviously wasn't fun for the survivor either since they was the victim.

How Can We Fix Dying Light?

The Problem

Dying Light has a simple problem, you get awarded for basically giving a player no chance to survive and if the killer plays nice, the obsession will benefit from the healing speed increase thus fueling generator speed.

The Solution

Let's look at Save The Best For Last! It has a fun factor on both sides, the obsession will receive less attention from the killer while the killer gets involved in many chases to gain tokens. Of course the obsession can chase down the killer to take hits and reduce the killer's tokens but the obsession doesn't know if the killer has the perk (since no one pays attention to the killer's attack CD, you should be running away).

The Dying Light Solution

Since we figured out how Save The Best For Last works and how it's fun for both sides with a hard counter. It's time to create a Dying Light solution where both sides are happy!

Dying Light: You'll become obsessed with a survivor. The obsession's chance to unhook themselves during the escape attempt will be increased to 100%. Every time you successfully attack a survivor, receive a token up to a maximum of 6/5/4 tokens. When you're at your maximum amount of tokens, every survivor will suffer from the exposed status effect. When Dying Light is at maximum tokens, a successful attack on a healthy survivor will consume all of your tokens but a successful attack on the obsession will consume no tokens.
 -Only one obsession per trial.

Things To Note:
-When you reach the maximum amount of tokens, there will be no notification for the exposed status effect to the survivors.
-When you down a healthy survivor with Dying Light, only that survivor will be notified that you have the perk while the other survivors will not be notified.
-Downing a injured survivor when Dying Light is at maximum tokens will not notify the injured survivor about the perk.
-The obsession will see the luck icon on the attempt escape bar but this can be passed off as a luck offering or perks.
-I'll Repeat: Attacking the obsession will NOT consume any of your tokens and attacking a injured survivor will not consume your tokens.

Tips & Tricks:
-When you 2 tokens or further away from triggering Dying Light, go after the obsession to hook them and make them oblivious to their unhook chances.
-If Dying Light is active and you see the obsession close to another survivor. Down the obsession first since the obsession will NOT consume your tokens and then down the other survivor. Save The Best For Last will give you better results.
-If the obsession is injured and you're at maximum tokens, down the obsession since downing injured survivors will not be notified about the perk. Then hook the obsession to make them oblivious to the unhook chances.

How Is This Version Better?

The perk encourages spreading the damage rather than singling out the obsession. This is fun for both sides and rewards the killer for not tunneling a survivor to death. Ofc some numbers can be changed but Dying Light is a lot better and is now a viable perk option.

This is the part where you tell me your feedback about the solution and WHY you agree or disagree.

  • One thing I dislike about save the best for last is that you basically have to ignore the obsession.

Sure, with your suggestion you dont NEED to ignore certain players, but basically you want to. Also it is the obsession you want, not a non-obsession as in save the best for last. That leaves a "meh feeling" in my mouth if you knwo what I mean

Also since its an exposed status, the information would be given away as usual.....

Another thing, dying light currently slows down the game, your suggestion would speed it up instead and generally I prefer to have slower games. Currently we only have ruin (hex rng) dying light and pop goes the weasel (very situational) to slow down gens, dying light is the only reliable option atm (I still dont use it btw^^)

Ofc this version will speed generators up since it doesn't have the speed penalty anymore and has the exposed status effect. Dying Light is now a "Power Perk", there are 4 types of perks in Dead by Daylight: Tracking, Delaying, Power, and Hybrid. Power Perks directly make the killer stronger such as this version of Dying Light, Make Your Choice, NOED, and etc since it has the exposed status effect. This makes you sacrifice survivors more faster than normal and since you can do your objective faster, you'll be able to compete against the survivor's objective.

Firstly, you may want to indicate whether or not an attack on an injured survives consumes any tokens. All we know is that you will use them attacking a healthy one. I'm assuming you mean only healthy survivors.

Secondly, four tokens seems like a bit to me. I get that the whole point is to discourage camping or tunneling, but especially at the high ranks, that's a long time and a lot of the effort throughout the game. Sometimes it's not about catching them but making sure they STAY caught. I get that's exactly how you're trying to change the perk to discourage it, but still. Besides, let's say you did play with the perk, one instant down every two downs isn't even that much. Hell, even a decent hillbilly or cannibal could down more consistently than that with just their base power. This is what I would change.

    1. Only 3 tokens are required for a down, (with a max of 6)

    2. Only m1 hits count. Similar to Franklin's demise, attacks from the power will not gain tokens.

Other than that I love this idea.
  • Or just give the Dying Light person more recovery perks. Exhaustion buff, auto-streetwise, auto-dark sense, a free DS, I don't know.
I know it must suck being tunneled if it'll benefit the killer lol

If we add too many benefits then the obsession will be OP and it will make the perk complicated to understand for new killers. It's really simple to give the obsession a free kobe if they know that have one and give the killer more power to compensate.
  • Dying Light is fine. Maybe there should be some way to convey to ALL survivors that this guy is a DL obsession so they know to protect him at least. Maybe when the obsession saves or heals you, you see the DL icon like your would WMI so you know both that the guy healing you is DL obsession and that he will heal you faster. And if you are the DL obsession you should get the icon on your first hook, so you KNOW the moment you get off the hook to run and/or hide as best as you can. You could also add a stipulation that DL obsessions need to be hooked twice or in stage 2 before they can be mori'd.

Before, there was a Dying Light icon beside your perks to tell you that you're the Dying Light obsession. However they removed it for some reason until you unhook or heal a survivor.
  • Dying light as a
perk has the right idea but it’s completely useless

    this seems better.

Dying light is maximized when 2 gens are remaining. 3 or more gens? Well you probably didn’t need dying light anyways. 1 gen left? Well who cares, gate is probably gonna get powered anyways.
