Myers Stalk Survivor's color outline: from white to red

i played myers for the 1st time running mirror shard and jewelry box. i ran into an occasion where I was not able to get any stalk points from 2 survivors; i was well within range and they were completely outlined red.

So when this happens, am I unable to get an stalk points off them for the whole match??

    You can only stalk an individual survivor for a limited amount of time. Once their outline turns red you won't be able to stalk them any more for the rest of the game.
