My Suggested changes to some Survivor perks/base abilities in DBD
I feel that some perks in this game are a little too impactful on both sides and think they should be nerfed as the outcome of a game can be influenced strongly by some perks. In my opinion not many killer perks are too impactful except for some hexes but I can't think of any changes I would make to them without making them trash and boring but I've thought of some potential changes to some survivor perks/mechanics that I believe would improve the balance of the game but this is just in my opinion so...
Survivor perk/mechanic changes (in no particular order):
1.Borrowed Time/Unhooks
Give survivors a minor BT effect upon being unhooked, let's say for example 3 seconds, and reduce BT's timer to 10 seconds. The first change is mainly for helping solo queue players as they have no idea if their teammates have BT or not as they can't communicate and 3 seconds is enough time to get to some structure or pallet in most cases and will still punish unsafe unhooks (maybe increase the timer to 5 seconds if the hooked survivor is in the basement). I think reducing BT's timer to 10 seconds wouldn't make it much worse but this change is mainly aimed to nerf the perk's offensive usage when body blocking making it a riskier decision.
Additionally I would like to see the "being grabbed while unhooking someone" mechanic removed as it can lead to situations where the killer will refrain from hitting a healthy unhooker until they commit to unhooking to try and grab them and the unhooker will fake the unhook to try and get the killer to hit them. Removing this mechanic wouldn't make a huge difference but this hook stand off situation is just stupid as there is no skill involved (just latency).
2.Iron Will
Make survivors using the perk Iron Will audible by reducing the noise reduction to 75%. Noise is very important when playing killer as it separates good killers from OK killers in chase. Currently Iron Will takes away that advantage the killer has and will punish killers who try to mind game as the survivor sneaks away mid chase when they're not in view and waste a lot of the killer's time for attempting to make a skilful play. Reducing the noise reduction to 75% could still allow for the survivor to sneak away but it would reward attentive killers for listening closely for the survivor's grunts of pain.
3.Decisive Strike
Reduce the timer to 50 seconds and limit the solo recovery speed in the dying state to its default value (30.4 seconds). DS's default timer of 60 seconds is a bit overkill as the survivor is practically invincible as long as the perk is active and they jump into a locker as the killer cannot down them while they are in the locker but they also can't pull them out of the locker or they'll be stunned, leaving the killer with 2 options: leave, or wait it out. Either way the killer's time has been successfully wasted by that survivor for chasing them. A reduced timer would prevent the survivor from being untouchable for as long. A limit in solo recovery speed would reduce the effectiveness of the DS Unbreakable combo while still allowing for teammates to heal you faster.
4.Dead Hard
Remove the invincibility frames. Often players use Dead Hard to make up for a mistake they made during chase by dodging a hit. Dead Hard's i-frames allow players to dash straight past the killer without being harmed making it a somewhat mindless and easy perk to use. I feel that using the perk should require a bit more thought as to how you use it and this change would force players to Dead Hard more strategically. Dead Hard's main strength is being used to gain distance on the killer anyway so removing its secondary feature won't take away too much from its usefulness as a perk. There would also be no more dedicated Dead Hard hits so that's a potential plus.
5.Speed Boost Based Exhaustion perks (Sprint Burst, Balanced Landing etc.)
Reduce the amount of time the survivor moves at increased speed by 0.5 seconds. Considering that Exhaustion perks are among the best perks by a significant margin, a nerf from 3 seconds to 2.5 seconds likely won't change that but it would lessen the gap between Exhaustion perks and other non Exhaustion perks. This change would lessen the time the killer has to hold the w key for and allow them to get back into chase sooner wasting just a bit less of their time.
6.Boon Perks
Boon effects can only be applied once. They cannot be reapplied to any totems after they are snuffed out by the killer. Boon totems can be extremely impactful just like hexes with the downside that they can be deactivated. Unlike hexes they can be reactivated which wastes a considerable amount of the killer's time each time they have to snuff out the totem. With this change survivors would have to put their boon totem in a more strategic position at the right time to ensure they get value from it. Even though the boon would only be applied once it would still likely give the survivors a lot of value.
7.Add an option to "Give up" when in the dying state for more than 1 minute
When playing in solo q it's not that unlikely to be in a situation where you are slugged for a long time on the ground and no one comes to help you or the killer slugs for the 4k but can't find you or chooses to let you bleed out. Adding this option would allow players to leave the trial without disconnecting and receiving a time out. They would also get to keep the bloodpoints they earned while in the trial.
8.If a survivor teabags at any point they instantly die and get banned for life
That's it
