Dead By Daylight: Man Hunt

Dead By Daylight: Man Hunt

the unofficial guide for DBD Man HunT (Custom Game)

---

Preface: I have been workshopping rules for a Man Hunt/CTF game mode in DBD's Custom Game. The How to Play is presented below. I invite anyone who is interested to offer up their critiques or opinions on rules.
Note: This is not intended to become an official game mode to be added by BHVR, but rather a fresh look on how to play DBD in a Custom Game between 5 friends.

How to Play

2 Teams:

The Prey (3 Survivors)

The Predators (1 Survivor & 1 Killer)

Objective:

The Prey must find 1 of the 3 keys hidden in the Predators' Territory and carry it back to their Territory to escape through the hatch.

Territories:

After loading in, players meet at the center of the map to establish a "mid-line" which divides the map in half. The Prey then drop the 3 keys they will have brought into the game on the ground. Both teams then go search for Hatch. The side of the map with the Hatch is considered the Prey's Territory, and its opposing half is considered the Predators' Territory.

Once the Territories have been established, the Predator Survivor takes all 3 keys and hides them somewhere in the Predator Territory. The Prey, meanwhile, must remain in their Territory and refrain from determining where the Keys are being hidden.

Once all 3 Keys have been hidden, the game is ready to begin.

Gameplay:

Both teams meet at the center of the map one last time to announce the start of the game. Players are now free to cross-over into either Territory.

While the Prey are standing in their Territory, they are considered immune to the Killers' attacks (he/she is not allowed to injure them). However, as soon as a Prey crosses over into the Predators' Territory, they can be attacked and downed by the Killer or "tagged" by the Predators' Survivor.

Getting Tagged:

The Predators' Survivor can "tag" a Prey by running into them. Any time a Prey is "tagged," they must immediately drop any Keys they are holding and return to their Territory. If a Prey managed to bring a Key closer to their territory, the Predators' Survivor can pick it up and run it back to its original hiding place.

The Predator Survivor CANNOT tag another Prey while carrying a Key. If the Predator Survivor makes contact with a Prey while carrying a Key, it is considered an illegal tag, and the Prey is not forced to drop their Key.

Downed Survivors:

The Killer is not allowed to pick up a downed survivor. Downed Survivors can choose to recover or, if they are close enough, crawl back to their Territory for a teammate to pick them up. Once a Prey recovers, they must return to their Territory before attempting to retrieve a Key again.

Carrying a Key to Hatch:

While Prey are immune to all attacks from the Killer in their own Territory, a Prey carrying a Key in their Territory can be attacked by the Killer or "tagged" by the Predators' Survivor. If a Prey is "tagged" while holding a Key in their own Territory, they must drop the Key and allow the Predator a chance to return it to his/her own Territory. If the Predator does not pick up the Key for 15 seconds, a Prey can legally pick up the Key and run it to Hatch.

Ending the Game

The game ends when either all Prey have escaped through the Hatch (Prey Victory), or all Prey have bled out on the ground (Predator Victory). In the event that 2 Prey have escaped, and the remaining Prey is downed or "tagged," the game ends in a draw.

Illegal plays

  • Predator Survivors are NOT allowed to drop any pallets
  • Prey Survivors are NOT allowed to cleanse any Hex: Totems

Sportsmanship

  • Players are encouraged to evaluate the pallet economy on the Predators' side of the map, and determine whether or not they should requeue into a new map or house rule an amount of time a pallet must be down before the Killer can break it.
  • Predators should refrain from placing all 3 Keys in the same exact location and having the killer camp with Franklin's. In fact, it is encouraged that the Killer is not made privy to the locations of the 3 Keys before the game begins.
  • Before the game begins, Prey should confirm with the killer that they have brought a Hex totem which will allow the Prey team to pick themselves up with Soul Guard.
