another werewolf thread??
I know there's been werewolf killer talk before, but someone on Twitter pointed out that Demogorgon's rig would be ideal to remap to a werewolf, and that got me thinking that the zombie AI could also be useful for werewolf, if he could bite survivors, and then howl to turn them into "lesser werewolves" which work like zombies for a while.
But then I started thinking about how being able to turn bitten survivors into werewolves could be problematic e.g. if there's a survivor on the hook, and all the other survivors are bitten, you could howl to turn the bitten survivors into werewolves and prevent anyone from doing a hook rescue.
Although I guess this isn't MUCH different from a situation where everyone not on the hook has an RBT and they're too busy un-RBT-ing themselves to do a hook rescue...
So here's my dumb idea:
Werewolf's special is "bite", which mechanically works like Demogorgon's shred, but also gives the hit survivor the "bitten" status effect. Once at least one survivor is bitten, werewolf's "howl" meter starts to fill, and when it's full he can Howl with alt-special button, turning all bitten survivors in a generous radius into "lesser werewolves". Lesser werewolves behave like zombies, but aren't killed when stunned. Lesser werewolves will attack normal survivors, but won't attack each other. While a survivor player is a lesser werewolf, they get intermittent skill checks. Enough successes makes them turn back human and lose the "bitten" status. A failed skill check makes them scream. After a set amount of time, lesser werewolves automatically turn back human, but keep their "bitten" status. Getting hit by the killer also immediately turns a lesser werewolf back human.
There's a pause between when the werewolf howls and when a bitten survivor transforms, so they have time to get away from the other survivors before they change. A bitten survivor in a locker automatically exits the locker when they change.
Bitten and lesser werewolf status are shown in the HUD to all players. The speed at which the howl meter fills is inversely proportional to the number of bitten survivors; i.e. it fills faster with only 1 bitten survivor than with 4. If there are zero bitten survivors, however, it doesn't fill at all.
Add-ons could increase the howl radius, shorten the pause between howl and transformation, lengthen the time spent as a lesser werewolf, make lesser werewolf skill checks harder, KI unchanged survivors within a certain range of a lesser werewolf, etc.
That's my werewolf idea. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
