PSA: Death Throes Compilation Add-On

image.png

Use this add-on with caution!

Death Throes has potential to be a lethal add-on, but more often than not will become a detriment to your kit. Iridescent Photocard serves similar functionality, and is superior in every way.

Numbers Breakdown

1st Hit: 50% Laceration

2nd Hit: 100% Laceration

3rd Hit: 150% Laceration

Missed Hit: Reset to 50%

What does this mean?

Death Throes Only Sees Value when the trickster lands 4 consecutive knives.

50% + 100% + 150% = 300%

Therefore, 3 consecutive throwing knife hits with Death Throes is equal to 3 non-consecutive throwing knife hits without Death Throes. If you happen to miss a single throw, after the first hit lands, your damage % is reset to 50%, and you will instantly regret having used Death Throes.

On paper vs. in-practice

The damage potential sounds good, so what's the issue?

Death Throes Compilation plays like Pyramid Head's Punishment of the Damned on-release. The potential for significant impact is there... but the detriments and setbacks that occur when you miss are too great to make the ability feel worth it.

Who the hell are you?

I have over 100 games as the trickster as of the time of writing.

Despite his flaws, I find the trickster incredibly enjoyable to play as. His power is mostly low-risk, making him play smoother than Deathslinger or Pyramid Head. With perks like Sloppy Butcher and Save the Best for Last, I have found him to be incredibly oppressive in chase.

If you're looking to give him another go, especially after his buff, I suggest running Corrupt Intervention + Sloppy Butcher. Trickster is at his best in the mid-game, so Corrupt will help you get there sooner and Sloppy will either extend the mid-game or provide you with opportunities to catch injured survivors off-guard. Don't feel that you need to run M&A on him, as you'll likely want that perkslot for Tracking and/or Gen Regression.
