Where the issues are
Just a comprehensive overview of who committed which shortcomigs that is leading to the games not-so-good quality:
On the devs side:
- Lack of communication: Be it with the community or, so it seems, with their own people. Sure, some stuff might be under an NDA, other stuff might be something they wanna keep a surprise. But for everything else there should be better communication. For example, the colourblind mode. Looking at the WiP images I am lead to believe that when they brought in the 'new' auras they were trying to do the first steps (the images look reminiscent of those), but something went very sideways. Had they said 'yeah, we were trying to lay the groundwork for a colorblind mode, but no one being able to see anything was not the 'leveling the playing field' we had in mind' It would have been all dandy. Or now with the new UI. We still don't know what they are planning. Because as it stands right now the only real 'new' thing are small animations of the icons and the hookcounter (which on killer side is still... sub-optimal, lbr)
- No rhyme or reason to changes: This ties into the lack of communication. We can only judge what's going on by what we see, and often what we see makes not much sense. The aforementioned UI update. What is it for? When the devs say no new modes are planned, then why change the UI at all? Just to make it look 'modern' or something? Same with the new animations etc. Is it really just for the looks? Because looking at the map updates there's often the feeling of... disinterest to how the maps get updated. Codeword: Breakable walls. On the maps since Glenvale they make sense because the maps where designed with them in mind. But similar to totem spawnpoints on maps that where there before Hag, Breakable Walls on older map feel... thrown in, instead of overhauling the maps from the ground up (thought maybe that'll happen some day)
- The feeling of disdain towards the community: When we have comments like Almo's 'badgering' one, or not_queen's rather guilt-tripping note that changing the UI would mean undoing all the hard work (when all people wanted was the old layout, so not_queen's comment kind of revealed that the new system isn't fit to allow for full UI customization...) , all that on top of some bugs persisting for a long time now, then there is a feeling of the devs giving the finger to the community...
however:
On the side of the community:
- Drowning out helpful feedback and general negativity: For every bit of proper feedback there's an onslaught of people declaring it a lost cause because 'clearly the devs won't listen'. If someone works out possible new game modes, or just little bits and pieces to make the experience more enjoyable, you'll have so many people declaring it a bad idea because... hell knows why. Sure, with point 3 on the list above in mind wariness and pessimism are understandable, but often there is the definite tone of people not wanting things to get better because... then they couldn't complain about it anymore ?
- The community's incapability of stopping to beat a dead horse. Look, we get it. you like fnaf. you think your survivor OC/this licensed character would be great etc, but... do you HAVE to put it under literally every of the devs' posts on social media? like clockwork. We will most likely never get Sidney, because our GhostFace is NOT the scream ghostface. Yes, Pennywise is on the devs wishlist, but cross your heart, pennywise seems to be the same species (?) as the Entity itself, so that's very, very tricky.
- The community's other incapabilty of testing things proper: Now, this is kind of something that goes on both lists: The PTB. on the devs' end it's that the ptb feels more like a glorified commercial than anything else, but on the community's side we have the issue of people... not testing. Which often adds into the feeling that it's just there for promotion. People ought to start testing for totem spawnpoints and if they are broken, for killer abilities (especially killers that didn't undergo any change) not working as they should, for environment bugs etc. The rest would then come down to the devs visibly listening.
We certainly are a match made in hell.

not_queen's rather guilt-tripping note that changing the UI would mean undoing all the hard work
Funny they didn’t have an issue undoing all that hard work when it came to survivor animations.
But for me the 2 biggest issues are...
1) No comment on cheating in the PC versions of the game. It’s getting worse and everybody notices this. Why isn’t anti-cheat working? What are you doing to remedy this?
2) Bad map creep. They finally fixed a number of problems with maps last year and now we’re starting to see these issues creep in again. If these aren’t nipped in the bud now they’ll remain for years as more and more problematic maps get added.
