The emblem bug balanced the matchmaking
Before the bug, it used to be common to get low rank Survivor teammates as a Red Rank. My theory is that the matchmaking wanted to water you down so it didn't have to find an actual Red Rank Killer. The result was a bunch of rainbow rank games where the Killers would tunnel out the weak links and win almost by default because they could bloodlust down the one or two decent people eventually.
Now that Red Rank Survivors pretty much don't exist. The matchmaker can't cheat like that anymore since the majority of high level players are technically purple rank right now. I've been noticing a lot better games and when I load into a match as a Rank 4 my teammates are typically Rank 5-8 instead of Rank 5-14.
