Advice on versing Specific killers Part 1

I've heard people often say, "nerf X killer." This inevitably devolves into "git gud" "yea, (s)he's so OP!"

As a killer main that occasionally plays survivor, I'll often some advice on versing specific killers. I did about half of them and the advice is pretty short and general. Hopefully, it'll help some folks.

Trapper

Remember where he came from. It's likely his territory where he's set up a few traps. Don't step on grass unless you are both injured AND in a chase. If you are injured, you'll just have to take the risk.

other than that, he's a basic M1 killer with no power

Wraith

Also a basic M1 killer with no chasing power. Keep an eye out for his shimmer, and listen closely for his loud growling. If you hear his bell, then he's within 24m and about to kill you. If he's spotted you seemingly through a wall, he's likely using "All Seeing - Blood" which basically gives him wall hacks while cloaked.

It's worth mentioning that as a stealth killer, he is countered by Spine Chill that warns you if he's looking in your direction.

Hillbilly

This varies based on the skill of the Billy in question. Some you can loop no problem. Very good Billys can absolutely destroy you if you try to loop him as they know when to start revving, mind game, etc. This combined with his mobility makes him a force to be reckoned with in the right hands.

If it's the worst-case scenario, give him every pallet. The idea is to stall for time and play it safe while the teammates for gens. If he's at your back revving, try juking to the side and hope he screws up.

Nurse

Just die.

Okay, seriously

Do not even try to loop her. It won't work. Your only defense against Nurse is distance and try to make her screw up. Do NOT let her get LoS of you if you can help it, quickly start changing direction when you think she's about to blink to throw her off and do NOT keep repeating the same trick. She will catch on, and then kill you.

But really, don't feel bad if you struggle against her. The nurse does not play DBD. She plays Nurse. It's not uncommon for even veteran survivors to struggle against her because of how different and powerful she is.

Michael Myers

Now, this guy is uh... not a lot to say, actually. He's a basic M1 killer with no real power other than getting access to an insta-down.

He gains his power by "stalking" you. It's worth mentioning, he starts the game in T1 and is the 2nd slowest killer in the game (105% movement speed, barely faster than a survivor). As such, you should break LoS and delay him getting out of T1 as much as possible and also delay him getting into T3.

When he gets into T3, just play super safe and just give him every pallet. Either it runs out, or you've wasted a lot of his time when he downs you. It's worth mentioning he has an add-on that makes his T3 infinite but is also slow to trigger so if you slam gens, even T3 won't be enough to save the game for him.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Myers has access to two add-ons that allow him to kill you on the spot once he's in T3. No need to be hooked or anything. keep an eye on his left hand; if it's open, he has an add-on. DO NOT let him get close. If he does, hop in a locker. He'll grab you and hook you, but he can't kill you (unlike proper moris).

Hag

You want someone to constantly harass the Hag. Do not let her set up traps. If she does, you're in danger. Many Hag players are also known to proxy camp hooks, so be VERY careful going for unhooks. If she's far away or carrying someone, don't be afraid to trigger every trap you see just to waste them. Unlike Trapper, Hag is completely reliant on her traps. Take away them, and she's a powerless 110% killer.

Doctor

Don't even bother trying to use stealth against him. His power is literally designed to counter stealth, so it's pointless. I will mention going into a locker will save you from his Static Blast that will shock you if you're in his Terror Radius.

If he uses Shock Therapy, you cannot drop a pallet or vault or anything except run.

How do you get around this? Just drop every pallet. Don't loop him, just play safe, drop the pallet, and run. Unlike Billy, he can't insta-down you, so you're wasting A LOT of his time.

Huntress

Ooh, a range killer! How do you play against a killer who can directly hit you over pallets?

Exactly how you might think. Just put something between the two of you for cover. If you hear her wind up a hatchet, then get ready to juke. Be warned, you CANNOT do anything in her face without the risk of getting hit.

Oh, and if she hooks someone. Assume she has BBQ, and just dodge. One day, you'll meet a Huntress that goes for crossmaps and you're in danger.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In the current version of the game, Huntress has access to Iridescent Hatchets that will insta-down you. It's exactly as miserable as it sounds. Don't worry. They're getting nerfed.... soonTM.

Leatherface

Similar to Billy, actually. Just give him every pallet and run like hell. Windows are also very good, but that's also why many use Bamboozle to block windows, so be ready for that.

If you're out in the open, you're dead. If he's at your back and you have nothing else, then try to move around trees or other junk and hope he bumps into it.

Oh and never unhook in his face. Even if you have BT, just don't. You'll both die. If he's face camping, then accept your teammate is dead and just slam gens.

Freddy

Wait for this failed skin graft to get nerfed....not good enough?

Okay, if you're awake then he's an M1 killer with no power. If you're asleep, give him every pallet and run. Be warned that if you're asleep and attempt an unhook, BT will not proc.

Exception: If the Freddy is using the add-on that replaces snares with fake pallets, try to remember which are real or not from your time awake and loop him normally. Then say gg because he clearly prioritizes fun.

Pig

Pig doesn't have a lot of chasing power so just loop her normally. She can do some crafty things with her dash at very small loops, which can be dealt with by pre-dropping the pallet.

When there are traps on survivors, then 99 the gens so the trap doesn't activate, giving everyone plenty of time to get them off. If they're active, then they're in danger and need to get it off ASAP.

Clown

Pre-drop pallets.... that's it. You can't loop him, so just drop the pallet. He can't slow down pallet vaults or anything, so if it's safe, he has to break it. He also can't insta-down you, so there's that.

There's a reason he's getting reworked. Don't worry, the counterplay is the same.

Spirit

Die.

Okay, no, but you're in for a hard time. There's a reason she and Nurse are widely regarded as the strongest killers in the game, and you heard what a nightmare Nurse is.

She relies almost solely on sound to track when she's phasing, so anything to distort that such as Iron Will or Crouching might have her second guess herself and burn through her short duration. If she has Stridor, you're in for a very hard time, but crouching will still muffle you—the goal being to make her think you're further away than you are and making her phase past you. You can also try doubling back and try juking her that way.

How do you tell if she's phasing? if you're outside her TR, then you can hear a vacuum sound. If you're within her TR.... I'm some idiot with too much time, not a miracle worker with all the answers. Yeah, there's a reason people want the breathing bug back as a feature.
