Froze with no character upon loading

I entered a game as a survivor (Tapp 50) and immediately after exiting the tip screen, the map loaded as a frozen picture of the barrel on fire in the map. No music, no character, no info bar. After nothing happening for a minute, I hard exited the game to reload it.

And this wouldn't be nearly as annoying, except I depipped (-2) out of green ranks into yellow. And I know to people playing much longer, that's not a big deal, but I spent a lot of time getting out of yellow ranks, and the rank reset is in 4 days. Not to mention I lost my offering, but that matters a lot less to me than wanting to continue to play in the green ranks.
