Killer vs survivor information on the hud and how it can be improved: a thread

As a player of both sides, i feel some easy steps could be taken in order to "bridge the gap" between swf players using communications tools, and players playing solo, along with the information a killer has on survivors during a match.

Survivor portraits are very important within the match, they show both killer and survivors what state all the survivors are in during a match. whether someones in the injured state, is dying, is on hook, is asleep or infected and all the rest. i believe that this can do even more

Survivors should be able to see actively chased players on the hud, much like with the obsession. Having the injured portrait (without blood) simply to indicate a survivor is running from the killer, would allow for easier coordination and game knowledge to be passed onto survivors playing solo. whilst players injured outside of a chase should have a simple portrait much like their uninjured one, that just shows blood or an injury. this wouldn't outclass perks like aftercare, bond or empathy, as it wouldn't show you where they're being chased, simply that they are being chased. This could also work for gens, totems etc.

(ie the hud should show the survivor currently in chase regardless of whether or not their the obsession.) (this could also extend to portraits being made for "healing themselves" or healing another survivor.)

Survivors using the point and come hither "emotes" should activate aura reading upon objects or themselves within line of sight of another survivor - let me explain. A survivor pointing at an object such as a totem, generator or chest, should highlight the object for 3s to all players with aura reading. A survivor doing the "come hither" emote towards another survivor who can already visually see them (ie within 8m and are looking at each other), should allow themselves temporary aura reading for 5-10s, to allow for other survivors to temporarily and more easily follow them. This could also work for the killer too, being able to see the aura's survivors indicate, within either a range or at all times, or be able to see the aura of a survivor "taunting" them with "come hither".

(This change is to essentially allow for a limited version of that singular map addon the crystal bead. - if a survivor has line of sight on an object, and is within 8m of it, they should be able to point it out to other players who are paying attention, essentially allowing for the silent pinging of objects across the map.) (it would also allow for the easier leading of other players expecially new ones to objectives.)

Killers on the otherhand, much like with the deep wounds, or infected/asleep status effect, should not see the duration that a survivor has been on hook. instead they should have essentially "a hook state" counter. This would allow them the ability to be choosy on which survivor to go for and when, (knowing and being able to keep track of what survivors are on death hook is very powerful) but without being able to consistently know how long a survivor has actually stayed on hook for - this would lessen the ease that a player could be facecamped when transitioning stages, as a killer would be unable to know exactly when to come back to a hook last second to prevent a hook stage transitioning into a death or a struggle.

(Killers shouldn't be able to see hook stage progress during a hook in order to give them less opportunity to return to a hook last second and accelerate a transition between stages, but instead should have a small counter (lets say 3 bloodied orbs) that fade away, indicating hook stage progress throughout a match) (this would allow killer players instead to be able to more easily track how much a survivor has been hooked, rather then how long and only during the hooked period.)

Survivors using perks should show their perks in a range around other survivors - for example - perks like prove thyself and leader are already shown to other survivors, but simply increasing that to any perk that effects healing (desperate measures, we'll make it) or even perks that affect oneself (showing a person having an active delivereance on hook for example) would wildly increase coordination within a team. this could also extend to before a match starts, by allowing survivors to all see what each other has equipped. Things like solidarity would hugely benefit from this change, and knowing your going into a match with 3 no mithers as a survivor would prevent me from going in with a heal build for example

(Survivors should know the perks other survivors are using before the game starts, and also have more indicators that there within use during a match)

Aura reading could also be indicated on the hud - if a survivor or even killer is seeing the aura of a survivor, that survivor's aura could "light up" around their hud portrait. this would allow for players's to keep track of survivor's whom are using identical skins ie - a killer knowing a survivor's aura is being shown to them/a survivor being able to more closely track their allies whom could be identical for all they know.

(Aura tracking on the hud)

Killer's could also use some love, in the form of perk or item usage tracking - their are very few indicators expecially for newer killer players that a survivor is exhausted for example. i see plenty of newer killers before they've gotten really advanced in the game not knowing why survivors are speeding off, or having trouble juggling effects like exhaustion, or even and expecially endurance. Having indicators for killers on the hud, that if the killer has a keen eye for, that a survivor is undergoing the effects of "endurance" "exhaustion" "being healed" (possibly) would allow killer players to plan more accordingly around certain statuses and effects. (things like mettle of man should be hidden.) I'm not saying they should have the ability to see a perks usage, simply active signs that someone has recently used a perk. ie if a survivor player is exhausted, they should show it to the killer (ie being able to tell why somethings happened, rather then when.) exhaustion specifically could also be shown by heavier/louder breathing on a survivor

(Killer's could use some tracking on status effects survivors are afflicted by, knowledge that a survivor has just become exhausted could allow for killers to plan accordingly, or know they've used a perk.) (endurance could also be indicated by this, but it could also nerf the effects of endurance so thats more up in the air as i personally don't wish for it to be impacted as i feel its in a good place for both sides, but that things like borrowed time can be very up in the air for killer players, not knowing when they should go for hits or wait)

--------------------------------------------------------------

All in all the major tldr : Survivor players should be given more info on the hud in order to bring them closer to survive with friends (being in chase, healing or being healed etc), along with perks being shown before a match starts (and during for perks that effect you and what you will do) Survivors should also be able to point out objects and entiy's without using perks through the emote commands, at the possible expense of being a double edged sword and giving indication to the killer.

Killers could also use a little love in this department, being able to track what a survivor is being currently afflicted by, and being able to plan accordngly. Killers should not be able to see a players current progress on hook, but instead be able to see what their hook stage progress is at.
