can't trap the gate controls?

I was playing trapper last night and discovered that I couldn't place a trap within a certain radius of the gate, including right in front of the gate controls. Is this a new rule, or is it a bug?

I also noticed in the same match that I couldn't place traps in the basement, which I see was a bug and is fixed in the new 4.4.2 patch.

    Its Auto heaven, I noticed it since PTB. Also cant trap from the stair to basement.

    cool. Well, they fixed the basement trapping on autoheaven in the new update, we'll see if it also affected the gate.
