Chapter Concept: Eternal Watch
new map: Dunstanburgh castle
A once glorious English castle, its former occupant executed. It is now a ruin, fallen to time, existing in only a shadow of its former glory within the memories stolen from the Knight by the Entity.
Tall, stone walls in a field overlooking the sea, lookout towers providing valuable vantage points, and a dungeon hidden below the bricks.
New Killer: The Knight
Difficulty: Easy
A practiced killer, able to enhance his baseline lethality with the technique endowed to him by his Dragonslayer's Stance.
His unique perks, Pommel Strike, Gangrene, and Besiege allow him to get extra value from pressuring survivors in particular ways.
Lore
An English knight from 1381, Gregor of Craster served under John of Gaunt, the Duke of Lancaster, to guard against peasant revolts at the Dunstanburgh castle. He was a noble, righteous man, but one day he happened upon something of interest; a greatsword, intended to be delivered as a gift to the Duke, but not one of any make Gregor had ever seen.
Its size was astounding, two meters long, but what really set it apart was the material. Rather than iron, bronze, or steel, this sword wasn't made from metal at all, but something seemingly biological in nature. Black and orange, its grip wet with some sort of sour smelling golden liquid. He knew he must have it. Soon after grasping it, this was all he knew.
The thing once known as Gregor lost himself in the sword. His name, family, position, none of it meant anything anymore. He must serve the sword, he must become the sword.
The Duke never knew exactly
Stats
- 32 meter terror radius
- 4.6 m/s movement speed
- Tall
- 2 meters attack reach (moderately increased)
- This does not increase your lunge duration, like Myers, but rather the actual length of the attack hitbox.
- 2.5 second successful attack CD (slightly decreased)
- 2.5 second missed attack CD (moderately increased)
- You're rewarded for landing your attacks... but don't miss.
Similar to how Myers has variable vault speed and lunge range across all his forms, The Knight is endowed with faster attacks and bonus reach.
Power: Dragonslayer's Stance
The Knight is capable of a suite of specialized strikes, making him especially lethal in close quarters. All of his strikes count as basic attacks.
Hold LCtrl to Drop Back, suppressing your Red Stain and lowering your movement speed to 4.04 m/s to enable your techniques.
Dropping back has a 0.2 second animation, during which you move at 3.85 m/s.
In this state...
- Hold M2 to Guard, further lowering your movement speed to 3.85 m/s. If you would be stunned by a pallet in this state, you will ignore the stun and break the pallet in a 1 second animation. Cancelling Guard has a 0.2 second backswing.
- Tap M1 to Thrust, dashing forward 3 meters in a straight line at 7.5 m/s to damage the first survivor struck by your sword. Thrust counts as a quick attack.
- Hold M1 while moving your camera horizontally to Slash, stepping forward one meter (over 0.15 seconds) before striking all survivors in a 2 meter, 60 degree cone in front of you in a flick of the wrist.
- Hold M1 while moving your camera downward to Chop, locking in the direction of your camera before stepping forward one meter (over 0.15 seconds) and striking all survivors in a 2 meter long, 0.1 meter wide line, putting them into the Dying State. This attack can destroy pallets, and regardless of its result (hit, miss, or pallet destruction) it has a 3 second recovery time.
Perks
Pommel Strike - You attack with the blunt of your weapon, with the intent to daze rather than to kill. Your quick attacks grant survivors a 50/75/100% shorter post-hit haste, but do not apply on-hit effects.
Gangrene - Messy wounds will find themselves infected soon enough. If a healing action on a survivor is stopped within your terror radius, the survivor being healed will scream, lose all progress towards being healed, and become afflicted with the Broken status for 60/90/120 seconds.
Besiege - Long battles are the most difficult. Gain a token every 30 seconds, up to 2/3/4. When a survivor stops repairing a generator, it will instantly lose 2% progress for every token you have. When a generator is completed, lose two tokens and any progress towards your next one.
New Survivor: Avery Swann
A silver-tongued sadist, he enjoys throwing scraps to those he views as beneath him, just to watch them squabble. This extends to supernatural forces of violence.
His perks, "Justice", Curried Favor, and Half-Truth enable him to help himself to earn the Entity's respect through manipulating both sides of the trial.
Perks
"Justice" - Tit for Tat, friend! Upon safely rescuing a survivor, the perk activates. Once per trial, if the perk is ready, if you would be put into the Dying State within 5/10/15 seconds of being unhooked, ignore the damage and instead cause your "Savior" to collapse to the ground for 10 seconds, revealing their location to the killer with a scream.
Curried Favor - The Entity notices your selfishness, and it approves. Gain a token whenever a survivor other than yourself is hooked. Lose all tokens upon being hooked yourself. If you can reach 6/5/4 tokens, the perk activates for the remainder of the trial, and will reveal the killer's aura to you for 5 seconds once every 25 seconds.
Half-Truth - Silver tongues don't slip up. When you are unhooked, when you unhook another survivor, when you recover from the dying state, or when you pick up another survivor from the dying state, delay the update to the relevant survivor's status on the killer's HUD by 3/4/5 seconds.
Comments
Conceptually brilliant. But the multiple different attacks is too complicated for me.
