Dunno bout your personal experience, but I found that often just 'giving up' on a chase as killer makes especially red ranks go cranky and start chasing you, giving one a free hit. (and as with Lightborn and flashlights they aren't so prone to catch on)

There seem to be plenty of people who are convinced the game must be played in one very specific way that all alterations to their 'tactic' seemingly has their brains short-circuit.

Make use of that

    This Aussie guy does often 5-gen hold as pro looper he is, so imagine how frustrating will be for killers without bloodust
