Have gen speed vary slightly based on swf composition?
While there is a lot of room for debate on exactly how much of an advantage teams that include swfs have over all solo teams, there is a fairly wide consensus that there is a noticeable statistical score and survival rate advantage between the two that impacts how the game “feels”. (From the dev stats last year it was something like 5% to 10% survival rate benefit for teams that have 2- to 4- person swfs included, about the equivalent of a one hook difference per game on average.)
One suggestion I haven’t seen yet to try to equalize the playing field and results between solo and swf groups is to allow for gen speeds to vary based on swf composition. So for instance something like this (exact numbers can be tweaked for balance but I tried to pick numbers that keep the average gen speed at the same 80 seconds for a solo unbuffed survivor that we currently have)
- if all the survivors are solo have the base be 78 seconds for one person to complete a gen without buffs or great or missed skill checks (same as the current speed)
- If the survivors have a two person swf have it take 82 seconds
- If the survivors have a three person swf have it take 84 seconds
- If all the survivors are in a swf have it take 86 seconds
The slightly extra bit of time it takes swfs to complete gens would help balance out the bit of advantage they have in terms of coordinating the gens and healing and just being a bit more time efficient in general.
Obviously I’m not claiming this is a silver bullet or that the issue isn’t complicated, but at least at face value this seems like a reasonably simple change to implement that would have some of the desired effect of evening out results between all types of survivor groups on average.

Devs aren't gonna do that even though the idea is good.
Probably not but you never know. 🤷♂️ Glad you like the idea though. 🙂
