mm broken

i have recently started playing DBD. I started as survivor and at the begining it was hard, but after spending some hours i could start doing some good games.
After about 50h and reaching rank 4 as surv i decided to start playing killer. Fisrst games was good, i killed 2-3 survivors as average and sometimes i could make 4 kills and i feel the game pretty balanced, i had fun and suvivors wasn't being abused, these games was good. After a few hours as killer i reached rank 15 and everything changes and the mm started to be a pain and tremendously unfair with me all survs was between ranks 1 and 8, and sometimes one survivor of my rank (13-15). The average kills per game is 1 (with a lot of luck 2) kills, with lot of toxic players just trolling you.
I'm starting to only playing surv because i can have some fun and make something in the game, and not only chasing someone looping me for 2-3 mins while i got 3 gens complete. And i dont have any problem with gen-rush, is a tactic like killer can camp or tunneling, but i want a fair mm with people of my rank.
I just want to know if this is a common situation and know the opinion of some expert players.
