Matchmaking rework
For background, I am a survivor main on xbox one, playing consistently in ranks one and two, and my killer rank is green.
The matchmaking changes rolled out onto xbox really have not aided the gameplay unfortunately. I have had games either where the survivors get rolled against a red rank killer, when they are mainly 16 and above, or games where the survivors are all red ranks against a rank 16 or above killer and they stomp.
Rank does equate to skill partly, and the argument that ranks 15 to 20 just dont play enough before the reset falls apart. If they don't play enough games, they dont have enough practice and cannot gain the skill and gameplay ability needed at higher ranks. It is glaringly obvious, just a few minutes into a game as survivor or killer which players are higher and lower ranked. Granted, rank is not everything, and im sure that there are ways to change the system, however this mmr system is not the way.
The system places weight on how well you play, regardless of rank, so a rank 16 that happens to have a good few games may get their mmr boosted, as the game thinks they can hang with purple or red ranks, the skill gap here however is absolutely huge, it cannot be bridged so easily, however this is the only way i can explain there being brown ranks in my red rank games against red rank killers. The rank 16 plays in the red rank game, maybe with other players ranked 1 to 5, maybe players ranked 10 to 15, either way, whenever this type of rank imbalance has happened to me, the game has been extremely unenjoyable and over extremely quickly. There are no balanced games with this system, either survivors are underranked or the killer is. The rank system alone works most of the time, it was far far more successful than what has been tested.
In principle, it works, however in my practical experience it really does not. Maybe I'm just unlucky, and if anyone from the xbox community sees this post then maybe they can offer an opinion too.
