Overall Feel of the Game.
Hello all, as a player with several hundred hours I would like to give my take on the game.
- Incredibly stressful, there are some games that skyrocket my blood pressure. Some very strong loops that can only really be countered by holding W through the pallet and the skill required sometimes being unbalanced. won't be talking about items as I will do later. There are some games that are incredibly enjoyable and there are some games that are dreadful. This divide ruins it for me. The fact that I will be flipping a coin on whether I will be having fun or not blocks me from enjoying the game to the fullest.
- Generators: This ties to the coin flip i mentioned earlier; they either pop in the first 3-5 minutes of the game or they take 10-12 minutes. The latter being the most enjoyable. This constant stress on the fact that the gens could all pop at once is daunting. This is why I could even go as far as saying that it is close to being mentally paranoid.
- Add on: This once again ties to the unbalance of fun or not. Some addons are outright broken (Iridescent Head,Tombstone Piece) and some being practically garbage (Scrapped Tape, Driver's License). This unbalance between Garbage or OP is incredibly frustrating to deal with.
- Killers: This might be a personal opinion but i had to include this. It feels that there are WAY too many bad killers and very little strong ones. This of course being at the highest ranks. If one wanted to play wraith or clown at rank 1 they would have to use their best addons and builds to make them compete. As a main Clown i can tell you that it feels incredibly annoying to be putting 120% of my effort while knowing that there are 4 people in the map that are having the time of their life. Some killers need to buffed and brought to the same level as others. I hate having to play Spirit or Nurse because I know that if I play my favourite killer i will be bullied to death.
- Survivors: This has been an issue ever since I started playing. The unbalance in the game makes a lot of survivors cocky and annoying to play against. With their flashlight macro and t-bag at every chance. I feel that if the survivors actually feared killers this problem would slowly resolve itself. Making killers stronger will make the survivors think twice about being douches. For example I had a game as Clown where I had toxic idiots t-bag and click their flashlight at the beginning of the game, after I started owning them they started to genrush the soul out of me. ( Killed 2 of them) This is not fun, the fact that a killer has to deal with that is pathetic. As a streamer may have said: "Give killers the power role not survivor". Moreover the 4 usual meta perks ruin the game. Not by being unbalanced ( They are or they wouldn't be meta) but by removing all the original perks the developers have added. I would enjoy it more if I had to deal with a Claudette who healed everyone but lacked in chases and a Meg who was great at chasing but not as good in helping her team. Some of the builds survivors can make are so much fun to go against and play with but they are nullified by the meta perks. Why would you run a weaker build and might lose a game when you can just run the 4 same perks and win most of the time? This is why those perks ( We all know them) need to be changed. As i said the need to be CHANGED not nerfed. If they were to nerf those perks survivors will outright hate the game as they liked running those perks, they need to be more situational and less generic. The fact that you can stand up when injured is cool but they shouldn't be allowed to do it whenever they are on the floor. It would make the game more fun if they had specific situations as they would allow survivors to run more unique sets of perks which is more fun to verse as I mentioned earlier. Furthermore, some of the items that survivors use are outright infuriating to deal with. Keys being just broken, no discussion is needed they are OP. Now before you write "WhAt AbOuT mOrIs", Yes they should to be changed as they are dreadful to deal with. However I would like to talk about the other items. The fact that killers have no idea what items they are going against promotes toxicity. One has no idea whether that flashlight is a Purple or a Yellow, therefore the killer might tunnel the survivor wanting to take the possible purple flashlight out of the game. This can be applied to all of the items. Now about the balance, I don't really mind any of the items as they have been nerfed quite a bit since the beginning of my experience. However I would like there to be a lock on how many of the same item can be brought in a match. What I mean is that there shouldn't be 4 survivors with 4 flashlights or 4 toolboxes as frankly any sane killer would just dodge the game, which might cause survivors to hide their items right until the 5 second countdown. If the killer sees this it will lead them to be more toxic which will ruin the experience for everyone. I would like there to be a cap of a maximum of 2 of the same items brought by survivors. This will make the life of toxic SFW a little harder. I don't have a lot to say regarding the killer perks as most of them are situational and there isn't a must run perk anymore ( RIP ruin). Also SFW needs to be nerfed in some way as it is way too strong, I don't know how because frankly it isn't my job but something needs to happen.
Overall the unbalance in enjoyment is what makes this game hard to play. Hopefully the developers will change this and make the experience more enjoyable for everyone.
Thanks for getting this far.

the survivor issue could have been fixed long ago by giving survivors only 3 perk slots but making their strongest perk their "power/talent" so claud for instance would have self care built in or meg would have adrenaline as hers, then you buff the "powers/talents" to be power worth the forced slot and bam.
you now have survivors who you can KINDA guess how they work at first glance since you will know their "power/talent" but you still wont know their perks, similar to how survivors can roughly guess how a killers perks will probably be as soon as they look at you since they will know your powers.
this would also discourage stacking multiple super strong "safety" perks because most of them will be survivor "powers/talents" so you wont see D-strike on anyone unless its Lau or borrowed time on everyone unless they are Bill.
Can't do it because game just becomes pay to win with laurie
by that technicality shouldn't bubba be P2W because of BBQ? massive blood gains and the ability to know if everyones far away or not
linked ability the thing you are recommending vs teachable perk that can show up in the shrine. no
Freddy's powers vs any of the base game powers :)
your move.
point still stands if you know what killer your going against you already A: know what his power does bar some slight debate on addon impact and B: know roughly what perks they will be using due to killers needing specific perks to counter the best survivor perks.
on the other end of the spectrum if i load up killer i can see what skin their survivors are using but i wont know a single perk they will have till they use it or hell i wont even be able to do that if its stuff like spineless, bond, prove thy self, etc.
"Power/Talent" for survivor skins will give some perks the love they need while also giving the more over used ones to specific survivors so if they do select said survivor you at least know what their power/talent is just as well as how survivors know what a killers power does when they see the killer.
Freddy is only good because people don't know how to play against him and refuse to learn. Sure his teleport and sleep are strong but his power is countered by waking up every now and then, not letting him get early hits treat him like oni, and not looping in the same spot once asleep.
Also everyone that goes 4 meta perk go brr will complain and Its annoying enough to see them complain about spirit and freddy do you know how much backlash the devs will get if they removed their ability to go 4 meta perk go brrr
Frankly the devs should not care. Of course they should read what they have to say but they make the decisions. If change makes people quit the game so be it. At least you know that who remains truly enjoys the experience.
that may be but the point still stands, sometimes you gotta take risks, bending over backwards to please everyone usually just ends up with a dying game, just look at WH40k eternal crusade, starwars galaxies or guild wars (thats what the mmo was called right? it didnt have a separate name?), sure people play them but the numbers dwarf in comparison to when they first lift off.
DOTA2 has the right mind set, they make changes not giving a crap about the meta as long as it makes less used stuff stronger and strong stuff not so strong without breaking it they do it because they know people adapt or they get bored with the same meta day in and day out (cough ESO cough), hell on some occasions they DO deliberately break the worst stuff by making them op just to give them a chance to shine till they nerf it to more acceptable levels.
So because an ESPORT is rebalanced for more interesting gameplay a PARTY game should be balanced as if it were and esport.
what
you are dodging the point, the point is that the game is getting stale in its current form because the same meta for survivors near 2 years back is still pretty meta now even with nerfs to some perks because they are just to damn good NOT to bring. just look at how many people especially SWF groups use D-strike, deadhard, sprint, adrenaline, etc.
killer metas were the same for a while till they started hammering at the best killers, nurse isnt THE meta anymore, it shifted to spirit and billy, billy probably wont be part of the meta anymore but spirit, freddy and ghostboi will be, playing against a killer doesnt get as stale unless you are in the top ranks in which case your up against the same 2-3 killers pretty much every game (spirit, freddy, billy soon to be replaced by ghosty) pretty much every other match, but you get used to how their power works and play accordingly as soon as you see what killer it is.
killer side gets VERY stale in most rankings because you know none of the survivors you see will likely be using their base perks unless they are meg, claud or lau, but you know to damn well they will either all have one or more of the meta, triple points if they bring 4.
a forced meta shift via "power/talent" induced survivor perks will give survivors a big breath of fresh change they haven't in years besides new maps and killers can get a bit of wiggle room knowing a little more about what they are going up against at a first glance.
then we can start making all those crap perks that are now powers stronger to match their new survivor skin tied position and the strongest "we all must use this perk" will usually be non-combinable with multiple "freedom" perks giving each survivor a strong tool for offense or self preservation without giving them so much combine power THEY become the powerful creature and not the killer.
when i solo queue as a survivor i am more frightened of the other survivors than i am of the killers. thats how bad the meta is atm.
balance a party game as if it were an esport to increase player engagement, im on board if it includes nerfing ds and buffing low tier killers
