DBD Game Mode Idea

As it stands the base mode we have to play can be extremely unfun for killers and survivors because of how the devs want to treat balancing. They want the game to have extremely short chases and even slower gen speeds, but can do nothing to actually ever make this a reality. This is because if they keep making the gens be completed slower then the skill gap between better players would start to get even more noticeable and honestly I 100% disagree with their vision. Set down the pitchforks for a second I'm not saying that survivors should be borderline immortal and gen speeds should be quicker like how it used to be back in 1.4, but I think that a new game mode could make everything more enjoyable for both sides. This Chaos game mode should focus solely on chases because I believe that's the most fun part about DBD.

I haven't fully thought of the finer details of how a Chaos mode would be but the general concept is that there are no generators to complete and instead there is a timer at the top of the screen that has maybe 5 minutes on it. The killer will have a 30sec grace period before the match timer begins to find a survivor. Neither killer or survivors can bring in perks. Every 15 seconds you get a noise notification of where all survivors are much like how Rancor functions. When you find the 1st survivor then they will become the obsession immediately. After you get an obsession you will be able to see the obsessions aura when not being in a chase with them for 10sec. When chasing your obsession you slowly become more powerful over time such as a +5% increase to pallet break speed after chasing every 10sec, a 5% vault speed after chasing every 20sec, and a 1% movement speed increase every 30 sec. Keep in mind that the overall match timer will not directly effect how fast you earn your buffs and instead will be a separate smaller timer near where your perks would be. This is because the 5min match timer will progress at only half speed while you chase the obsession. These buffs that you receive are permanent buffs that you will never lose once you gain them. There are also perks you can obtain mid game just by performing actions such as being stunned (x) amount of times you get Enduring, after hitting survivors other than the obsession (x) amount of times you get STBFL, etc. Survivors can also earn perks this way by taking (x) amount of protection hits to get MoM, remaining injured for (x) amount of time to get Resilience, etc. The goal of the survivor team is to try to be obstacles so that the obsession can survive longer in a chase. After each quarter of the clock is run down all survivors will teleport to random locations and a new obsession will be randomly selected. Each survivor will only be able to become the obsession once.

When the killer hits a survivor then 5sec will be added to the match timer, When a killer downs a survivor they will get 15sec added to the match timer. When remaining in a chase with the obsession for a consecutive 30sec the match timer will only progress at 25% the normal speed until the chase is broken. When downing a survivor you can either hook them to add 30sec to the match timer and them someone must save them to bring them back into the action or you can slug them for no extra time benefit. When a survivor is slugged they can either be healed by a teammate to get back up faster or if they get slugged for 20sec then they will teleport to the farthest point from the killer will full health. If you down the obsession then you will get an additional 10sec on top of the other benefits to downing and hitting a survivor. To win as killer you have to hook the obsession a total of 8 times. When the obsession is hooked the killer will teleport to the farthest location from the survivor. The timer will completely stop when the obsession is down or hooked. To win as survivor you have to run the 5min timer down. You will get only around 20% of BP from playing and you can not rank up in this mode, it's purely for fun.

(Edit: You will not be able to die on hook. Every time someone is hooked the game acts like they're in phase 1 indefinitely. When the killer wins all survivors will be killed via the endgame collapse sacrifice.)

What I was trying to go for with this idea was game play that would be focused on chases and that would involve everyone on instead of just 1 person running the show. How I pictured this would be played would be the team would have to juggle protecting the obsession on top of trying not to go down too often so that you can always help in some way while the obsession keeps trying to break chase if even for a few seconds. Killer would be able to become extremely powerful in chase if they can balance out downing the obsession on top of getting around the other obstacles the survivors provide. For both sides its always gonna be fast paced action that I tried to think of ways that everyone involved could enjoy playing. Although it seems like a cool concept to a game mode at least to me, its far from perfect and there's a whole bunch of things that I probably overlooked and I'm certain that a bunch of the time values would have to be changed for balancing. If you have any feedback or suggestions for how a game mode like this would work out or if you have any game mode ideas of your own feel free to leave them here.
