Switch - 'Software closed because an error occurred'

Since the 4.0.0 update my game will freeze and then it will close and a message will appear that says 'The software closed because an error occurred'
Seems to happen randomly, i know that it is happening to others as well. From my experience it only happens once per day.
It has happened almost immediately after picking up a survivor multiple times, which made me think it may have been an exploit but it has also happened while moving around not in a chase.
