Thoughts About Dead by Daylight
I haven't played the game myself, but I've seen enough videos and streams that I think I can help shed some light on why it's popular:
Stealth games are necessarily artificial. Guard behavior has to be programmed, and is ultimately programmed to be defeated. Single player games are meant to be beaten, and this can undercut the feeling of accomplishment.
In a competitive game, you're trying to outsmart an actual human. There's every possibility that you could lose and that you should lose if you don't play as well as the other guy. This, in turn, leads to a ton more investment in the game. Single-player content is great, but multiplayer done right tends to have much greater longevity and popularity.
On the flip side, the "killer" gets to live a fantasy of terrorizing real people. There's the faint possibility when playing that you make someone scream in a harmless environment. There's a lot to be said for that sense of dominance. This could also be part of why the game developers tried to use leveling to encourage playing against strangers instead of consistently with a group of friends. There's more incentive to "play mean" and "fight dirty" against random strangers.
Finally, stream audiences love horror games, and Dead by Daylight certainly seems "sufficiently spooky." The Amnesia and Five Nights at Freddy's crowd are probably drawn towards it.https://trackeasy.fun/usps/
Of course, if the game is so buggy that you lose your immersion, that entire experience falls apart. It goes back to the initial point about feeling artificial- if lag ruins your play, you don't feel like a powerful monster or a clever survivor, you just snark that the network gods frowned on you yet again. https://showbox.tools/
Now, if somebody could figure out why people love "crafting" and "survival elements" so much, I'd really appreciate it.

Why don't you try it tho? It's really worth the try he atmosphere is really great butt he gameplay with make you come back, if you don't take it too seriously.
This is a well thought out framing of the game.
