Hexes and Totems - Ideas, Meanings, Discussions (also for Mods/Devs pls ;) )
Hi, the guy with the long Posts here again.
This Time I want to talk about Hex(-totems)
First of all, i DONT like actual Hex-System. One of 4 Perk slots is used for a Hex (there can be more of course, but we start with just one this time)
The Spawnpoints for Totems and the way they burn is highly obvious and really easy to find for 4 survs. As i started with the lvl1 hag, she just had 3 Hex-perks at her beginning. So I choosed Ruin 1. Killer Rank was 14 or 15 at that time but i dont leveld the hag with bloodpoints i earned with other killers.
So heres what happened: Match started, i walked around alittle (not directly but even in the direction of my totem) After around 20 seconds i heard the explosion. Totem was gone, hag was naked. bad luck i thought. All the next rounds until level 15 for the last perk slot, i played with ruin or devour hope and all my totems were clensed after max 2 mins. doesnt matter if i place traps around or not. When i was in a chase, or carried someone to the hook, the totem was defeated.
In lots of YT Letsplays, the totems on Highranks dont even stay longer then mine. SOmetimes it was hided well and noone was interested in searching, but that happened only in a minimal amount of matches.
Next thing is: why must the survs get a hint, an icon that appears left or right on the screen, when a hex is activated? you see ruin at the first failed skillcheck as an icon. you already kow it when your skillcheckcircle is red.
You know devour hope is active, when the first mate got onehitted as an icon in the screen.
You know NOED is active, after the gates are on energy and the first mate was downed. and you also get in icon for that hex.
WHY? The killer just can see what perks are used if he has shouldered someone. He can see the wild horse, he can see the strike. Thats it. All other perks the killer needs to explore by his experience. If that happens then the surv seems to have that perk. But there are no icons for the killer. But back to survs:
You dont need to be experienced to see ruin when your circle is red. You dont need to be experienced to see NOED is active when a guy got onehitted after completing the gens BUT it COULD be another reason (Tier3 Myers maybe)
And most its affecting devour hope. In the middle of the match someone got onehitted. ther could be some reasons for that. Oneshot Anna, Tier3 Myers, Chainsawing by Bubba and Billy Or it could be "Make your Choice"-perk, OR it could be devour hope. But that icon exactly tells the survs what happened so they could react and start searching. That prevents a lot of dynamics in a match because everyone instantly knows what to do.
I think that this is also a thing, survs should be surprised with. no stupid spoiler icon. the killer couldnt surprise the survs with his build anymore bcause almost everything is spoilered by little icons.
If there is a situation, a surv did not see before, it should be a secret. something to deal with. to change the playstile of the surv in a unknown kind. more surprise, more tension. Maybe its more difficult to the survs, but little things like that can sort out skilled and experienced players and mainstream newbies that just know what to do becaus the game give them everything they need to survive.
This Icons are the best way to show you how softened this game already is. If real 4 ppl got in an area with a killer they know NOTHING about him. not even hes there.
In combination with the obvious totems that you can defeat almost every time, the whole hex system is useless atm. it just works in rank 20-15 where the newbies dont know what happens to them.
What do you guys think? Should it be reworked? If you think iot should? how can it be reworked? Lets brainstorming a littel bit ![]()
Kind Regards, S0ckenSchuss.
