Why do chainsaws have such large hitboxes?

I think that everyone can agree the hitboxes on chainsaws are a tiny bit larger than the animation shows. Makes the Killers get really ######### hits on survivors, but also makes the Killers get caught on 1mm of a corner of a box and have their power canceled.

I think revisiting the hitboxes on chainsaws so its harder to be canceled on map geometry and a bit smaller for hitting survivors would help both sides a lot with consistency.

  • Its not larger that it looks... its because of the dedicated servers. This didn't happen before.

  • look fine to me in my games, plus billy and bubba are pretty weak killers to go against providing you know how to loop them. huntress on the other hand, her hits always look questionable but i play on xbox so no dedicated servers means average 150ms-200ms for most killers, RIP.

  • No, did you ever saw bubba's? you can 360 his CHAINSAW while its almost going trought you and billy's hitbox is fine. I think you're just complaining too much

  • killer hits dont work with weapon hitboxes - this rule applies to any attack that is not a ranged one (Hatchets / Harpoons), which includes chainsaws.

for normal hits the game marks an area in front of the killer, the "hit area". if the game detects a survivor hitbox in this area, the survivor will be hit. for that, the game automatically moves the killers weapon onto the survivor.

to clarify: a weapon hitbox would require the weapon to get into contact with the survivor hitbox to hit them, this system however will just automatically move the weapon on the survivor if they are in range.

so the chainsaw hit "hitbox" is exactly the same as any other killers normal M1 range.

for the sprint, i dont really know how exactly that works, so yeah ill give ya that one xD
