Deathslinger's name MAY be a reference to Deathgarden
A killer in an asymmetrical game with a gun that has a similar name to the asymmetrical game that had killers with guns? Both games made by the same company?
I think this may be why he was given a name that was so different from all the other killers! (and with that being said, it would be awesome to see him get cosmetics that resemble the killers from Deathgarden, I loved that game)

Deathslinger is Father Gascolgne from Bloodborne.
