He’s Back! He’s New and Improved! I Present to You: The Physicist!
I know this post looks long, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed! It’ll go faster than you think anyway, as much fun as it is!! 😉
This is a remake of a killer I posted a while back. TL:DR is that he can teleport survivors directly to a hook——with some effort. Please, read on.....
The Physicist
This killer resembles a scientist. Tall, skinny, white or grey lab coat, crazy hair. Due to his lab accident, his face (and any exposed skin) is in a constant state of flux, continuously morphing and stretching into what is essentially a smear-mask. He has a cloud of particles and debris orbiting around him at all times.
His melee weapon is a superheated band of particles (from his cloud) which will burst out in front of him like a diagonal slash. Though he doesn’t use his arm when attacking, it requires concentration, so there could be some clever animation for this.
He moves at standard killer speed (4.6? 4.2? Whatever standard is, I forget the number)
Special Ability: Particle Entanglement
While using his special attack mode, his movement speed is moderately increased. The ability only works at a close-range distance of 3 meters and within a narrow 15-degree cone of attack (thus, the increased movement speed is needed.) Furthermore, it must have a clear shot (no walls or pallets in the way).
The Physicist uses his particle accelerator tube (a large metal cylinder that looks like a bronze cannon with gadgets and gauges poking off in all directions - steampunk style) to ionize the survivor. Wispy beams emanate from the machine and around the survivor while attacking.
This does NOT injure the survivor, but causes them to gain an Electron Cloud. This is a glowy particle cloud that surrounds them (like when they carry a Lunar Event lantern). This effect intensifies the more they are exposed to the attack, so that they are brighter with more particles that are moving faster. (Harder to hide when you’re shining!)
Any time a survivor has an Electron Cloud, they will notice the white aura of a random hook on the map. They are becoming “entangled” with the molecules around that hook. They may interact with the hook to “disentangle” and return to normal. (Sabotaging the hook would have the same effect.)
After 15 seconds of cumulative exposure, the survivor becomes fully entangled and immediately ends up on the hook. If the survivor escapes the killer or dodges the special attack, progress pauses but is NOT reset until they disentangle at the hook. If the killer finds the survivor later, he can finish the job of entanglement.
Side note: he can quickly switch from normal mode to his special attack so he doesn’t lose ground if he’s near a survivor. However, because he moves faster in the special mode, there IS a movement penalty during the transition back to melee.
Perks:
Hex: Equilibrium - While active, this hex has no effect. When the hex is cleansed before exit gates are powered, every generator explodes and all generator progress is spread evenly across all 7 generators. Completed generators (at 100%) will be reduced to the same level as the others, and will need to be completed again. (The more generator progress there is overall, the higher the equilibrium level). The killer kicks gens 5%/10%/15% faster than normal for the remainder of the match. This should pair well with new Ruin.
Chaos Theory - For the remainder of the match after being hooked, the survivor randomly hears loud noise notifications and false skill check warnings (even when not interacting with anything), and sees empty notification bubbles appear from time to time. When interacting, real skill checks occur 4%/7%/10% more frequently.
Quantum Anomaly - When a survivor is hooked, the other survivors see the notification bubble and red aura simultaneously appear at 2/3/4 other random hooks.
Comments
@Peanits we need this Killer, please!
Thank you! I’m glad you like it! I really hope the devs take notice of this idea. Btw, I’m open to any suggestions for edits as well, from anyone.
For anyone still unsure, I would like to mention some other benefits of this killer to the game.
All in all, by addressing major concerns from both sides, I would hope that this guy could bring more balance to the game.
Now onto a completely random question. Considering the steampunk look of his special weapon.......should we give this fella a monocle?! 😜
I’m kinda torn between 2 maps that I think would be great for this guy.
Something high-tech like the Large Hadron Collider would be a lot of fun. The overall facility could be built up around a giant ring-tube in the center. Perhaps even make it so we can enter the collider and have particles zoom by while we’re there. There could also be a “disaster” section where part of the facility is missing and is instead intertwined with an area of space, with floating sections of asteroid to run across and a view of the cosmos.
My fear with this idea is that it may be too similar to Hawkins which, let’s face it, isn’t terribly popular.
The other idea is to have a science museum. Various different rooms will have different science themes with gadgets and projects and explosions. (If we did this, there MUST be a shadow room! You know, every time a character runs through there’s a bright flash and their shadow remains frozen on the wall for a while. Imagine seeing the frozen image of the killer’s shadow slashing a survivor!)
Quantum anomaly with third seal is gonna be good.
Rofl you’re right! Those might be the games where survivors all get one-hooked!
