Bhvrs idea of "balance" and "fun" are antithetical
Since the ruin nerf was announced among other things they have done to make things easier for new players. Its very clear now both their ideas of both fun and balance are clashing and not melding together cohesively. Ruin was nerfed to make things easier for new players because retention is pretty bad and they need to get folks to buy from the in game store or battle pass.
This genre is hard to balance but their ideas are increasingly opposed meaning devs are bhvr are having clashing ideas and throwing them together. There is no vision much like EA's Anthem there is content with the dlc's but even then its mostly just reskinned killers or only vaguely new gameplay. Ruin was clearly one of these clashing ideals as it was hard for new players but its also a band aid for DBD's pervasive issues including bad coding, bugs, audio, maps, killer viability, gen times, matchmaking and developer disconnect. Ruin's nerf is kind of a symptom of a larger issue at bhvr clearly no vision but many, many clashing ideas for what the game should or shouldn't be. DBD is a house built on sand basically
