My thoughts

Being that i have yet to play with the new ruin i reserve judgement on it until i can actually test it, should it go live. That being said these are just my initial impressions.

1) Hex Ruin is hard to deal with as a beginning survivor. But so is the rest of the game. On both sides. Yet, everybody who plays the game deals with it. In fact, ruin making people good at skill checks is a good thing. When i started, i couldn't hit a ruin check to save my life. Now i hit probably 75%. And i only have roughly 200 hours as survivor. This entire game has a steep learning curve, especially killers. While i stopped using ruin months ago, having it up and possibly last all game helped new killers also.

2) You mentioned killers hated the rng of whether or not ruin would last. You are absolutely correct. There are dozens of totem rework ideas floating around the forums. This change doesn't acknowledge any of them, nor does it even try to fix the problem with hex perks in general.

3) I actually like the new perk. I think its pretty cool. And i would totally run it if not for one thing. Its still a hex perk. The one problem killers had with the perk and nothing about that is changed?

4) This change isn't going to do anything for new survivors as they will either spawn on top of it or not even notice the perk until it's too late for them. New players won't know spawns and veterans will just find it when they need to. Nothing is done to fix the problem with totems.

5) This will solve the problem of ruin being a staple, at high ranks as the fact its a totem that does nothing for the early game, when killers need the help the most. I could be wrong, but i doubt it will get run much. So that's something i guess.

I may be wrong. I hope i am. Again i like the new ruin. It just shouldnt be called ruin as there is zero resemblance to the original perk. Also, its still a hex perk and that flaw alone makes the risk vs reward just risk vs less risk.
