Is ranking bugged?

I’m a survivor main, rank 4-5 who has decided to start playing killer to get a better feel for that side of the game. I’m rank 16 killer and have been matched with ranks 6-8 all weekend.

I thought I was just awful at first but this hardly seems fair. Plus side I’ll have to get good faster but I’m getting wrecked.
