Ideas on DCs, moris, keys......
I love this game but I think there are some simple solutions to make the game better. Those are only my opinion so feel free to disagree, but no hard feeling if I happened to want to nerf/change something you like. There are tons of issue with perks/killers power level, but I will focus more on game mechanics in this post.
DCs
DCs ruins the experience for both killers and survivors, and makes ranking up harder for both side, so the following mechanisms should make it better
- Players who DC will not be able to queue for 5/10/30/60min/1day, which will reset after 3 days without any DCs (This of course should be after they fixed their server so people don't get kicked out of the game so frequently and still suffer from the punishment)
- If a survivor DC, other active survivors and the killer receives a higher BP and emblem compensation. Killer/survivor perks that require downing/grabbing/hooking the survivor,(eg. pop, thrilling, better together) will be activated if they are not in cooldown.(Since DCs are now given proper punishments, other players should not be punished for DCs by having a lower chance of ranking up and less BP)
- If a survivor DCs in the first 30 sec of the game, other than the said compensation, one random generator will be activated immediately.
- If a survivor DCs, the animation will be the same as when a survivor is sacrificed during EGC, after a short period, entity will send the survivor up to the sky just like normal sacrifices. Hatch will only spawn/open after the sacrifice animation is fully completed.
End Game Chat
Since DBD is a 4v1 game that involves hitting and killing each other, it tend to create toxicity and hate among players. From my observation, the end game chat rarely serves good purpose. Since if you really want to interact with someone in a match, you can always add them by clicking their names and pop the steam interface. The following chance could make the experience better.
- You can no longer Chat in the end game interface. You can "like" other players and they will receive the notification immediately.
- There will be predetermined options like "GG WP", "Thank you" etc. for simple communication.
Keys and Hatch
Keys ends the game prematurely, and has very little counterplay since as the killer you cannot do anything to an un-open hatch to prevent survivors to click and escape immediately. The following changes can potentially make it feels better to play against while making the keys still very powerful.
- There's a 5 second animation with 1 hard skill checks while open the hatch. If you didn't finish the animation, the progression will be lost and you will need another 5 seconds to open it. If you failed the skill check, your key will be consumed and the hatch will not open.
- Since hatch is a small tunnel, only one survivor can escape through hatch every 10 seconds
- If a survivor escapes from hatch before EGC, BP compensation will be given to the killer (This will also make it so the killers don't feel like they need to slug the 3rd person and find the 4th survivor in order to rank up)
Mori
Similar to Keys, moris ends the game prematurely and has very little counterplay. The following changes should make it feels better to play against it.
- Ultra rare mori can only kill 2 people rather than 4.
- Mori activate animation can no longer be canceled.
- When the killer activates Mori animation, both player take turns to complete a hard skill check. The killer starts the first skill check. If the killer failed a skill check, one mori charge will be consumed and you cannot mori the same survivor in this match) If the survivor failed a skill check or the killer finished all 3 skill checks, the kill will be completed.
- Killers and survivors receive large BP bonus for successfully complete mori skill checks and succeeding/surviving a mori. Survivors receive Bp compensation depending on their hook stage if they are killed by mori(you receive more BP if you are killed after first hook rather than second)
Keep the Game Hostage
Sometimes the game is prolonged in unintended ways, to be specific, when survivors hide and do nothing or when the killer body blocks one or more survivor at a small tunnel or corner. The following should address the problem.
- Survivors that did not mend/ completely heal one stage /do gens/ cleanse totem/ open gates/ interact with killer-specific objects/ enter chase (traps, jigsaw box etc) will have crows around them after 3 minutes. (This will prevent people rotating between two lockers or hiding behind something forever, you have to complete heal because otherwise you can tap heal every 3 mins and do the same thing)
- Killers that did not move farer than 5 meters over 1 min can no longer body block survivors until they leave the 5 meter area. (1 min limit is so that killers can still body block and out wait the DS active time)
Rank System
Sometimes you derank because the killer did not put up enough pressure (AFK or not chasing), or you killed all or 3 survivors too quickly. The following changes should address the issue.
- As killer, you are rewarded emblem points and BP for each generator that is not completed.
- As survivor, if you escaped, you are rewarded emblem points and BP according to the amount of hooks the killer did to the team. (The less hooks happened, the more is rewarded)
Finally, thank you for reading this post, sorry for making it long, and you don't need to read every part to reply. You can read one part and share your idea on it!
