It would be nice to get an update on the status of this though. This would be a great change to finally see implemented.
The dev they hired to remove the "press spacebar to struggle" feature pressed the wrong key and died. His death booted his teammates out of the office and they had to find another job.
Seriously, get rid of the spacebar smashing during the struggle phase. This nonsense kills me at least once per week.

I get killed all the time because ??? while struggling. I'm pressing spacebar and BAM, I'm dead for no apparent reason.
The struggle phase is BS. Get rid of the rapid key press nonsense.

I started playing a match about 10 minutes ago. About 20 seconds into the match I got another loading screen and received the error message "the server is no longer available". I got a 5 minute disconnect penalty.
If you're going to enforce disconnect penalties at least make the servers reliable first.

There's some low hanging fruit here.
At least 6 times in my 477 hours on this game I've died on hook not because I wanted to, but because I didn't press spacebar fast enough or there was a momentary lag spike or the game just hates me.
Can we change this mechanic so that you can press a key to die, but you don't have to press anything to "struggle"? It breaks keyboards and controllers and isn't carpal tunnel friendly. I've even tried using the mouse wheel and sometimes I just magically die while struggling.
Please get rid of the struggle mechanic.
EDIT: Just died again due to this wonderful mechanic.

Today I received by first DC penalty.
I've never had this before but when I pressed Esc in a game to look at the offerings. DBD locked up, CPU utilization was maxed, I waited 2 minutes and it never came back.
I got a disconnect penalty for that. I've pressed Esc many times during matches but that's the first time it's caused me to be forcibly disconnected.
At rank 3 people kill themselves in my games all the time by dying on hooks.
It's good to see that the disconnect penalty is working well. If only the disconnect penalty could fix some of the bugs in this game everyone would be happy.
